What if all the random people in your dreams....

I had a dream several years back where I was standing on the sidewalk of a big city, and a woman tapped me on the shoulder and said..

Hey, this is a dream.

I've always wondered how my brain comes up with all of these different people night after night when I dream...your theory sounds reasonable to me!!

Random People? WTF? I only dream about people that I know or knew in real life.

Wow, really? I'm often surrounded by people I rarely recognize.

I almost never dream about people I know and if I do, I've never seen their face IRL.

My dreams are about half and half. Some are people I know and some aren't.

Mine are about 99% people I haven't met in real life. Having people like family members show up in my dreams..is usually a nightmare.

Not because they are bad, but because I watch them die or some other horror. Not a good time.


While the random people..we usually just stand around talking. I use to have GLP dreams all the time.

I would actually type/read responses like I do when I am awake. I would know who I was responding to in dreamspace, but the avatar was always blurry.

When GLPers show up in my dreams as actual people, again..usually nightmares. Something sad/horrific is usually happening.

I thought so.

That was after attempting to 'lucid dream' for a couple of years through various means. So as soon as she told me, I went 'lucid' and took off like superman..or girl.

Dream flying is awesome. Where do the G-forces come from? They sure feel real.

I don't really recall there being random people in my dreams. I always dream about people I know. At least the dreams I remember.

I heard that the people we see in our dreams are really just reconstructed memories of faces we've seen throughout our whole lives. I don't know personally. I tend to think the more artistically inclined individuals might have a more creative dream-state. For example, I could do Lucid dreaming, but I couldn't control who was in it, what they looked like, etc. Just the "direction" of the dream I guess you could say.

i've had a lucid dream where i was walking with a client (to fix his computer inside his house)(which is my trade and he is a real client) and we saw a few people showing up (who in waking life and in the dream I've never met before)at his house outside as we were walking up. A woman fell down and scraped her knee badly. I wanted to go help and he said don't worry I'm sure it didn't hurt her. I said why and he said because they're all dead? We went into the house where there were many guests who knew me. I was horrified realizing that all the people in this and all dreams that we don't know but they know us are people who are dead in real life. It was not a nightmare and turned into a normal dream.
About a year later that client (Who happens to be a psychiatrist in real life) called me to fix his computer and when I was there I told him of the dream and my experiences with sleep paralysis, astral projection, etc.
He just smiled and said it was only a dream. But I always felt he was hiding something and wouldn't tell me

Yea same here, sometimes they have people that I know--most of the time though its just random people.

You haven't even reached Level 1 yet. You're at level zero looking up at the sky sorta starting to see connections and postulating ideas.

I've always thought the randoms were people I've passed by in waking life and my memory just has snapshots of them. I'm sure I've been in a random's dream as well.
