BLACK LADY takes wrong person OFF LIFE SUPPORT

Patient had same name as the family member and apparently same general appearance. Patient was full of edema (swollen) which distorted his features. The nurse correctly unplugged the patient after having authorization from the family member.

The actual screw up was that the "family member's" brother with the same name was actually in jail at the time. So somewhere there was a mix up where "John Doe's" family was contacted, but it was the wrong family... when double-checked by having a family member identify the patient, the family member messed up and said "Yup, that's Johnny".

Such a mess when it comes to paperwork but ultimately the guy was going to die anyway, it's just a question of how long it would take and how many thousands of dollars of debt would be racked up along the way. This makes for an interesting story but in the long run, nothing happened that wasn't going to happen anyway.
