Jesus told the evil doer "You will be with me in paradise". What did he mean, was the man going to heaven as if death is a promotion?

You will be with me in Paradise.”—LUKE 23:43. HOW WOULD YOU ANSWER?
Quoting: DGN there were 2 thieves put up on crosses with Jesus. The first one mocked him, the second one believed who Jesus claimed to be, this thief acknowledged that he deserved his punishment, but also proclaimed that Jesus did not. Luke 23:41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.then the thief said: Luke 23: 42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. If Jesus told this thief he would be with him in paradise....aka heaven, then you can bank on it being true. end of life/deathbed conversions happen.
