Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Airforce Purchasing 80 more F-15X fighters The US Air Force is set to request funds to purchase F-15 fighter jets from Boeing, increasing its inventory with an upgraded version of the plane it last procured in 2001, even as the service pursues fifth-generation fighters from rival Lockheed Martin Corp. [ link to www.zerohedge.com (secure)] Problems with the F-35? Or just need more planes for an upcoming war? Also, the airforce has been trying to scrap the A10 thunderbolt for years (but couldn't because they worked so well), but is instead buying 115 sets of wings to upgrade older models. And the Obama admin tried to kill the A-10 warthog And replace with F-35 for close air support. But nothing does Close air support like A-10. |

Quoting: The Meddler That was my thought too. The F-15 is one of the best air-to-air fighters in history, and the A-10 is the best close air support plane by a long shot. The F35 was supposed to replace both, which both these stories tell me that isn't going to happen. The only thing that throws me for a curve is they are not replacing any F-15, but adding to the fleet. Last Edited by Bud Fox on 02/21/2019 11:25 PMBlue Horseshoe loves GLP |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77004814 Possible I guess. Odd for a plane that was supposed to be phased out. Blue Horseshoe loves GLP |
