Remember Andrew Finch?

Mr Finch was 'swatted' and killed in 2015 by police because of some online bet via Call of Duty that resulted in a salty-player calling 911 and alleging a hostage situation at Finch's address. Finch had nothing to do with the online bet, but his house was as close as the swatter could triangulate the i.p. address to whom the online bet was actually made with. Right?

The character behind the swatting was caught and given a pretty lengthy sentence of 20+ years for misleading law enforcement officials that resulted in the death of Finch.

Well,...

As with the swatter, this "detective" from Houston seemingly gave false/incorrect information to acquire a search warrant of the premises that resulted in 5 injured cops and 2 innocent civilians shot dead.

Whether the "mistake" was really something as simple as the name of the street(Hardy St vs Harding St) and the detective perhaps couldn't bring himself to admit he made a deadly mistake(because imagine how many other 'mistakes' his career might be based off of), or whether events in the warrant were contrived altogether, the end result was just as tragic as the swatting incident.

Given that we expect for the Law to view everyone, regardless of profession, as equal "dirt bags" within the eyes of the law; Shouldn't this botched house raid be treated somewhat equal to the swatting incident with the same lengthy sentence to be considered? Or should we think of the children and let him off the hook because this wasn't happenstance and due diligence?

I think there will be justice and he will pay for what he did. He’s just now been released from the hospital. Will probably be indicted eventually.
