Re: “It’s Done For A Car, Why Not A Gun?”
So I saw this meme on Fakebook today.

It’s done for a car, why not a gun?

Get a learners permit. Take a test to prove your knowledge of gun laws, usage and safety. Take your weapon for a “road test” to gain your license. Obtain insurance, pay to register it every few years and have it inspected on a regular basis.

On the surface, yeah that sounds good! But my second thought was, that’s asking for more government control and I’m for less. Then I contemplated the question a different way. It’s not done for a gun, why do it for a car?

Anyway...have at it GLP! What are your thoughts about this?

Take it beyond, if it can be done for one right, it can be done for all rights?

Want free speech? Prove you only say the right things.
Want to vote? Prove you only vote "responsibly".
Want privacy, a speedy trial, equal protection under the law... need a permit for that.

Compare government killings or sponsored killings between car confiscation vs gun grabbing plans.

Christians in Syria had to register which legally is very similar to license.
Bad guys come in. Get registered/licensed Christians. Addressing and all personal info. How long do you think they lasted?
Not very.

Re: “It’s Done For A Car, Why Not A Gun?”
It's pretty simple.

Guns save lives. It was the Second Amendment because after the 1st (Right to Speech, Religion, Press (now propaganda) and Assembly), the founders new that unwarranted power could turn the entire system of what they were trying to build, as a system of self-government could turn to shit in a heartbeat.

If that was to arise, seeing what King George 3rd was trying to do, by removing the settlers ability to own arms, they knew that the America wouldn't exist. It would fail easily. Without the ability to form a 'militia' at a moments notice, the Red Coats could take over everything. That meant quarter without consent, taxation without representation, loyalty to the crown, support for the 'chosen' religion (I'm not sure on the date of the Church of England), class politics, no middle class, zero development of medications, limited right to travel, and a whole bunch of other stuff.

All that aside, your title of "It's Done For A Car, Why Not A Gun?" boils down to this. Guns existed ever since the Chinese developed gun powder. First it was a stick with a tube and they would throw some crap in the end. Still a gun.

Once someone figured out you could kill a foe with it, that genie never went back into the bottle.

It changed nations, it changed wars, it freed and enslaved people.

But again, to your point, guns existed. Cars didn't. No one was ever given the 'right' to ride a horse. They just did it. The car was an extension of the mobility of the horse. Hey you could carry your fat-ass wife around now without making Buttercup tired.

My modern rifles are just an extension of that very first stick with a tube on the end.

Where did I get my education you may ask? Just like 99.9% of others, my Grandfather and Dad spent time with me, teaching me how to use it and the rules for it. I don't need the government telling me what to do.

I take training classes because I want to become more lethal for the day it's needed.

But, do I need to pay the government for a God given Right to defend myself or my family? Fuck no.

If needed, I would kill someone with a brick or my bare hands.

Shove your license up your ass.

I've said my piece.

Re: “It’s Done For A Car, Why Not A Gun?”
This has a very simple answer. A license to drive and operate a car on the road is a privilege, not a right. A privilege can be revoked. Guns are a constitutionally protected RIGHT, not a PRIVILEGE.
