It feels really good to have some money saved in the bank so I am always putting some aside when I can. I usually keep a balance on my visa of $100-300 ish though I try to pay it off often, just kinda lazy sometimes and if I buy something more expensive that's $500+ (Which is pretty rare) then I just pay it off over a few paycheques. |

Meaning I put down my own money to have it. I use it to maintain a credit rating. Everything I own except my house is paid off. "Be like water my friend”- Bruce Lee |

The best thing a parent can do is teach all about credit debt, talk about it around the dinner table, beginning of high school 9th grade is a good time to start. |

Quoting: rip sasha I'll disclose mine, i'm now down to about $10,500 worth of credit card debt and it used to be much worse and over $20000 , I promised myself that I will never have this debt again . I'm now being a lot more responsible with money. Money was controlling me and Now I want to control money and control my financial future for a more secure one and that's without debt ! I want money to work for me not for money to work against me . Thank you ! You need a selection for " I don't do usury against myself". I haven't had any debt for 40 years, NONE |

Anonymous Cow User ID: 77420509 China 03/02/2019 04:28 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I use a credit card, but not for credit, purely for convenience. I spend about $1500/month on it, but pay it down automatically monthly so never pay any interest or fees. Should never treat a credit card as a loan, as the interest is a rort. They are good though as a medium or payment tool, that's all. |

I agree that we shouldn't buy what we can't afford as debt can be a real problem if we let it get that far... I've never been in debt but I have seen what it has done to other's... I only buy what I need... I keep to that :-)... ~Blue Spirit~ |

I've never been in debt but I have seen what it has done to other's... I only buy what I need... I keep to that :-)... I don't charge any more than i can pay off in 12 months, if I had to. Credit is great if you have self discipline, but don't do it if you have none. I use it for occasional spending, but mostly for vacation or for larger items that I want to spend on myself. I allow myself around 600.00 a month for any CC payments, play money or stuff that I don't really need. This is money that I indeed intend to lavish on myself. I believe, if able, to reward yourself often for earning any kind of money....Like at least 10%...if possible. If you establish a reward program from yourself, then working towards the reward...the 10% you can spend on yourself, can be a 'fun' mental game. Treat yourself just like you would someone that you love. Even if all you can afford to set aside is 20.00 a month, be good to yourself...reward yourself...even if it's just because you woke up in the morning and are still breathing...that in it's self is a good enough reason. :) |
