I like to think of the word and motive context as:

Captivation.

A captive audience is subject to context.

I have a leaden difficulty trying to understand the purpose and desire for any sort of involuntary 'captivity' in any permanent or even semi-permanent form.

It rings flat, debased and honourless in my ears, but even moreso where 'humans' are concerned.

That said, I once tried to get the chickens to 'free range' after a season in a large fenced area with a very large heated coop and they all preferred the relative safety of their pre-manufactured confines to the point where I can leave the gates wide open and they wouldn't dare to venture out.

Lesson learned, As Above So Below, and the syncs be damned and praised in tandem, I imagine.

I dont believe they are hiding a thing. It is more a case of normalcy bias and strongly indoctrinated delusions.

Ultimately they can't of course, but given none of us actually know what we don't or can't or won't know, it's sometimes interesting to mix up the progressions a bit and observe the reactions, if any, including our own, at least in the name of educational self exploration.

I was laughing so hard at the possible brown note metaphors that I almost 'broke character' myself, which has been long in coming at any rate.
