Took like 4 months just doing it passively. Best of luck. |

When you take out a loan - any loan - you're expected to pay it back at some point. This is clearly understood, and once you graduate, the payments begin within 3 months. It took me ten years to pay back my student loan, but I did it because that was the deal made when I initially received the loan. Doctors make an average starting pay of around $75,000 annually, and that is at the low end of a starting wage. That is well enough money to make the monthly payments. I'm glad that they are cracking down on these people who try to skip out on paying the money back. I can tell you I hold a state license in FL, and am a member of a professional organization. If I was a deadbeat, I can guarantee you that I would have 0 support from this organization and would be bought up on a charge of "moral turpitude"-- which is a broad term and many professional associations have such a clause. "Moral turpitude is a legal concept that refers to any conduct that is believed to be contrary to the community standards of honesty, justice, or good moral values." Being a deadbeat was actually discussed at a continuing education seminar. They just pass the buck onto their client's hourly fee. If a law firm(or any other company) pays off the loan as a hiring incentive, it's pretax money. If you pay it off, it's post tax money. The reason that so many loans are in default is the short payback span(10 years), and the fact that there's no easy way to get out of default. Both of these could be fixed with little effort, but nobody important wants that. |
