Cult alert: Mormon, the church of the latter day saints, LDS

Mormonism is not Christian. It is a cult. Mormonism denies the doctrines that make Christianity what it is, and it substitutes their different doctrines that are not taught in the Bible.

Here are the FALSE teachings of MORMONISM.

*Mormons will claim they are Christians because they say they follow the Jesus of the Bible, instead they are following a false Christ. Jesus is not the brother of the devil as Mormonism teaches. The Bible says Jesus is the second person of the Triune GOD and JESUS is the Word. The Bible says in Jn. 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the WORD WAS GOD.

* Mormonism says there are many gods, (Mormon Doctrine, p. 163).The Bible says there's only one God in all existence (Isaiah 43:10; 44:6; 45:5).

*Their book Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 1, page 188, says there is no salvation without accepting Joseph Smith as a prophet of God. Joseph Smith, of course, is the founder of Mormonism. The Bible says salvation is only through JESUS CHRIST.

*God used to be a man on another planet, (Mormon Doctrine, p. 321; Brig. Young, Journal of Discourses, vol. 7, p. 333). False

*God resides near a star called Kolob, (Pearl of Great Price, p. 34-35; Mormon Doctrine, p. 428). The Bible nowhere says He lives near another star

*After you become a good Mormon, you have the potential of becoming a god, (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 345-347, 354). The Bible disputes as we do not have the potential of becoming gods because there are no gods formed (Isaiah 43:10; 44:6, 8; 45:5).

*There is a mother goddess, (Articles of Faith, by James Talmage, p. 443). Nowhere in the Bible does it say this.

*God is married to his goddess wife and has spirit children, (Mormon Doctrine, p. 516). No where in the Bible does it say this.

*The trinity is three separate gods: The father, the son, and the holy ghost. "That these three are separate individuals, physically distinct from each other, is demonstrated by the accepted records of divine dealings with man," (Articles of Faith, by James Talmage, p. 35). The Bible say the Triune God is one God (Deut. 6:4) Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.

*The Father has a body of flesh and bones - which Christ contradicted in John 4:24 and Luke 24:39.

*Forgiveness of sins is obtained by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Mormon church. "As these sins are the result of individual acts it is just that forgiveness for them should be conditioned on individual compliance with prescribed requirements -'obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel,'" (Articles of Faith, by James Talmage, p. 79).

*Jesus did not atone for our sins in the garden of Gethsemane as Mormonism teaches. Instead, He did it on the cross (1 Peter 2:24).

*Joseph Smith and his brother were freemasons, a secret cult society which is counterproductive to the teachings of the Bible. He borrowed from freemasonry when he developed the Mormon religion such as a secret handshakes and special clothing worn--Mormon underwear. There are freemason symbols also used in Mormonism such as the all seeing eye and inverted pentagrams.

*The book of Mormon is unreliable and supposedly translated from a language that does not exist called 'Reformed Egyptian'.

*Tribes Mormonism claims to exist in the ancient Americas like the Lamanites and Nephites never existed and there is no evidence that crops they claimed these tribes grew ever existed in the ancient Americas.

*It is believed that the book of Mormonism is actually plagiarized from an unpublished story by Solomon Spaulding called "Manuscipt Found".

*For nearly 150 years the Mormons taught racism against blacks up to June 8 1978. Supposedly a revelation was received then from God in an upper room allowing blacks in.

*Joseph Smith said people lived on the moon and lived to be 1000 years old and were six feet tall and dressed like Quakers and it was his responsibility to preach the gospel to them. Brigham Young, the second President of the church, claimed there was life on the sun.

*Polygamy was practiced officially for 40 years including Joseph Smith who married some 30 wives some were teens and some married to other men who had to divorce their husbands to marry him. The US congress seized assets because of the practice of polygamy then the church prohibited it but since they said it was not a divine revelation some who are called 'fundamentalists' still practiced polygamy and even so today.

*They believe Joseph Smith will judge people in the final judgment to get into the 'celestial kingdom' of God.

* Those who frequent the temple wear Temple garment underwear they believe having 'magical powers' and are required to wear it day and night at all times giving them 'spiritual and physical security' and symbolizing 'spiritual purity'.

*They practice spiritism believing they receive messages from the dead, communicate with the dead, pray for the dead, have baptisms for the dead and believe the dead can even be assisted and saved in the next life. Deut. 18:10-12 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord; because of these same detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you.

Finally, we do not hate the Mormons, and we pray for their repentance, that they would stop believing in false gods. We want them to believe in the true God and the true Christ and the true gospel. But, unfortunately, Mormonism has deceived millions of people and it is most definitely not Christian. Mormonism is a non-Christian cult. Beware--do not have anything to do with being a part of this cult.
