They were bred for strength, jaw power, and love of fighting/killing---and that breeding has been very successful. They should not be allowed to be off a chain or out of a fenced enclosure. Penalty for failure of owner should be severe. Most dogs, like many men, love hunting. Pit bulls frequently love killing, like some seriously dangerous men. Horrible and terrifying - can't imagine undergoing such an attack, and I am a former seven-year animal rescue society volunteer. This is totally unacceptable - why people cannot or do not choose to hang onto leashes, very heavy leashes, I cannot imagine. Seems like orders banning them from cities is needful, yet in the country they will run down and kill deer, cattle - doesn't leave many options, does it?
