My situation...taught me and got me highly organized to cut and run...pack up...what to bring and what got left behind...and having that second location to bail into and having all the stuff neccesary to do just that along for the ride...Critters and equipment...to start over. Would like to here from those of you of what you wish you had and things you would have done different...and changes you will be making coming up to deal with events like this in the future... For those of you that have failed to do anything about your situation...still. With fall and winter on fast approach...the looming food shortages...potential lockdowns...and really bad weather expected across the whole of the planet in the next six months...if you dont get your shit together your in for a world of hurt...and your running out of time... Hope you guys can get all your repairs done quickly and resume your normal lives soon...dont waste anytime... Again...glad you guys made it thru...and yes...these are the things that make us smarter and wiser and more prepared... Blessings to all of you... Well if I would have had a house with a two car garage then maybe both of our cars would not have been plummeted by a pine tree...LOL. Seriously, I just don't know a safe place I could have put anything with all the flying debris. At least the cars are still driveable. But it did start me to thinking about getting a back up location somewhere north to run too. Regarding power solutions, I have a Briggs and Stratton generator that runs a lot in my house. We converted it after Katrina to run off of natural gas with a conversion kit via USCarb, and got an electrician to make us a special bypass plug, at the breaker box, to plug the house into it. Although that is good enough to keep us comfortable we are looking into a tri fuel generator as a back up generator to the one we got. Eight days later, and we still do not have power. It would be really tough on us if something happened to our generator. I guess we never thought about that before, but Ida taught us to be extra prepared. The other thing we found out is that we had a lot of batteries, lanterns and battery operated fans but it still was not enough because friends and family are never prepared enough, so the human side of me has to help. Also, we had at least 45 gallons of Kentwood and 30 gallons of regular tap water going into this, but it really was not enough. We have used it to make ice for us and those in need. The tap water was used to flush toilets when we had no water pressure, and to clean dishes. Lastly, like you said we need to be prepared to cut and run. I need to work on bug out bags with all important things in it. |

Stay safe... I got power back yesterday evening, but approx 30% of my area is still without power. It just depends on how much damage was done and accessibility to power lines. For some of the really hard hit areas south and west of me it will probably be two more weeks. Many in those areas were left completely homeless. |

The power coming back on is certainly a relief. It kind of makes things feel normal again, but it still does not stop the nightmares every night. Every night I wake up about 2 or 3 a.m. in a state of panic and I can't go back to sleep for hours. So much we dont know...so much has been hidden. BUT...and big BUT... The planet is still going to be effected and the weather and its going to get bad and then worse and then better... After the summer the planet endured...extreme everything...heatwaves...drought...rain...floods...cold..... tornado's and now hurricanes...Earthquakes...Volcano's... Fall and winter into spring is going to be one wild ride... Probably a few surprises from the sun as well...because this is low energy but sustained energy...and unrelenting for the next 6 mnths...and then just like that...poof...it will be gone...and theres nothing behind it. It will get better...It Will...It always does...always. This summer has been one I will never forget...not knowing if I had to bail and relocate...if I would get burned out and loose everything after all the work and planning I did and prepping...and infrustructure I put in place... taught me alot...you just never know...what may come your way...and you must deal with the fact that you might have to bail and move and what that might look like...you need to think about what you would do... I stayed up and positive and never let it get to me and just got to work...and thats what we all need to do... I have a good feeling that after this winter...which will test us all...and yes get shitty...but its just weather...mostly...for most...unless your sitting on a fault or volcano...that when we get thru to the other side that its going to be better than ever before...but the pain comes first...but were all going to be way stronger for it...and for the prepared...a cake walk. There are reasons favoring, or pointing to, the fact that a growth in the ethical, or spiritual quality, of humanity would decrease the number and intensity of complex catastrophes. It has become vitally important that a world chart be prepared setting forth the favorable, and the catastrophic, regions on Earth taking into account the quality of the geologic-geophysical environment, the variety and intensity of cosmic influences, and the real level of spiritual-ethical development of the people occupying those areas. But I did not state that there was no gravity, I stated that what we call gravity is difference i charge. Basically a pressure difference. I agree with what AC wrote, but I would like to add my comment about it. Think of earth and "space" as a capacitor; earth is a negatively charged ground plate, the air is an insulator and "space" is a positively charged plate. When the charge difference between the two plates becomes larger than the insulating resistance of the air, a charge equalization occurs. We call this lightning. Air is a very good insulator. Water and other materials (particles) are not. Since the wolcano emits water and other particles, the insulating resistance of the air between the plates decreases aboce the wolcano until it is no longer enough to insulate the charge difference between the plates, and the charge difference equalizes in a lightning conductor. beau voir |
