Re: Light of the World. — Be the Light.
It would be nice if we could all stop looking at the color of our skin. That is all true, lady. However, this is more of an issue of living under tyranny than anything else. There is a huge division between the rich and the poor. It is larger than it has ever been in this country. Many laws aren't designed to cater to the people, either. When most of the populace uses substances, they shouldn't be illegal. People should not be incarcerated over something that we've done since the dawn of time. Even Thomas Jefferson medicated himself with laudanum. What would be done to him if he were here to get searched by a police officer?

When people are oppressed enough, they lash out. When we see extreme rioting, we can be certain that those are a people under serious oppression. Imagine getting on GLP and reading the racist comments if they were directed at you. How would that make you feel? If I had been called an animal my whole life, I'd be inclined to act more like one. That rhetoric is mentally and spiritually destructive. Regardless of what anyone says, people are profiled by the police, prospective employers, and neighbors. Many are born into poverty and, because of the oppressive nature of society, have only a small chance of ever making it out of where they have come from.

There are many solutions to the problems we face. All of us need to stop looking at the color of our skin. All companies should be employee-owned. All drugs should be legalized. All healthcare and pharmaceutical companies should be nonprofit organizations. That would help begin the healing process. The division between the rich and the poor would shrink, police and citizens would be safer and friendlier, and healthcare would improve and become less expensive. Welfare could be left to communities to organize. That is not a responsibility of the government. This would encourage people to take active roles in their communities, thereby improving them in all ways.

This conflict is similar to the problems between Israel and Palestine. Both sides are in the wrong, but the fighting continues because there is a distinct lack of love. A voice of reason can bridge the differences and initiate a brighter future through viable solutions.

I never heard about that. :(

I can just imagine the CNN people being like 'but we're on your side, black lives matter!'

They have spray painted on the CNN logo and burned the American flag so far.

Then I saw a lot of people run so who knows if we have a shooter in the crowd.

The other thing is people are mad as hell about the Ahmaud Arbery south GA shooting.

I see less black people wearing PPE. Mask, gloves, while shopping. I do see plenty in my community just not as many I don't think most of them take it seriously and that's why more of them are getting infected. One thing that really pisses me off with the black lives matter shit yeah I agree black people are treated poorly but so are white people it's not all about the color of your skin if you're poor 'they' don't like you. And tbh I've seen a lot of blacks with great paying jobs and driving nice cars and wearing the latest fashion. So that's great and all but that doesn't scream oppression to me. I see the oppressed though don't get me wrong but I don't think they will be satisfied until they see white people walking around in chains and being whipped and shit. They act like black people were the only slaves to ever exist. White people were slaves too. A lot of people were traded from Europe and no one really talks about that shit. Also Australia is just a bunch of prisoners from the UK but who is screaming about that?

Yeah, cycle of abuse and retribution where does it end?

That's sad to hear. It has to end now. They are, as far as I know, having a peaceful protest in ATL right now.

I hope it stays that way and usually it does around here.

As protests turned violent in downtown Atlanta Friday night, Atlanta’s mayor and police chief were joined by entertainers T.I. and Killer Mike, Bernice King, and Civil Rights Leader Dr. Joe Beasley for a news conference where they urged the protesters to stop what they were doing.

“You are disgracing this city. You are disgracing the life of George Floyd and every other person who has been killed in this country. We are better than this. We are better than this as a city and we are better than this as a country,” Bottoms said. “This is not the legacy of civil rights in America. This is chaos and we’re buying into it. This won’t change anything.”

“What I see happening on the streets of Atlanta is not Atlanta. This is not a protest. This is not in the spirit of Martin Luther King, Jr. This is chaos. A protest has purpose,” Bottoms said. “When you burn down this city, you’re burning down our community.”

“Atlanta has been here for us. This city doesn’t deserve this,” T.I. said.

“We have to be better than this moment. We have to be better than burning down our own homes because if we lose Atlanta what else do we have?” Killer Mike said.

The late George Floyd reportedly worked at the same Minneapolis nightclub as Derek Chauvin, the police officer who kneeled on his neck and has now been charged with his murder.

El Nuevo Rodeo club's former owner Maya Santamaria told KTSP Eyewitness News that Floyd and Chauvin had overlapping shifts as security guards.

"Chauvin was our off-duty police for almost the entirety of the 17 years that we were open," she told the outlet. "They were working together at the same time, it's just that Chauvin worked outside and the security guards were inside."

Minneapolis City Council vice president Andrea Jenkins told MSNBC, "They were both bouncers at that restaurant for 17 years. Officer Chauvin knew George. They were coworkers for a very long time."

Despite the reports, the connection between the two men has not been verified yet.

Yep Sherman burned down Atlanta.

They had the phoenix logo rise from the ashes bit behind the mayor tonight. It made her look like she had wings.

The news is saying these are not people from Atlanta. Camera showed one of the arrested. Looked like he came straight out of the middle east. I mean seriously this is a bunch of terrorist shit.
