How´s spring advancing for you?


I loving it. Read less news, do more own shit, be happier kinda thing.

It got too hot here! But normal weather should arrive shortly. HS my hostess bought a lot of flower seeds so looking at doing seed balls and casting them everywhere. It seems all happy, until it isn't. My country is in the midst of falling. SO there is that, but I have a knack for taking on my government so...it is what it is. All good your way?
I think a lot of people are getting a gardening itch. It would be neat to Permaculture the planet.

And I miss your fellow countryman Jarmo...he sent me a postcard...awesome fellow.

I´m fine. The corona thing is pretty mild here...

There are restrictions tho until the vax program (programming) advances to a point they seem the threshold, like everywhere else.

But I´m well and enjoying the season.

Probing the edge of chaos

Such systems at the edge of chaos have a very different shape than previously reported distributions. This could help us better understand natural phenomena with a chaotic nature. It applies to independent random physical quantities or variables, each with a well-defined expected value and well-defined way of varying.

This theorem states that once iterated a sufficiently large number of times, these variable physical quantities will be approximately distributed along a central limit-also referred to as the attractor. In chaotic and standard random systems, such distribution is in the shape of a bell curve.

Now, new central limit theorems are emerging for more complex physical processes, such as natural phenomena. In this study, the authors took existing knowledge of the specific position of the attractor at the edge of chaos.

To do so, they employed a mathematical formula called the logistic map as a particular example of the dynamic system under study. They found that the distribution of physical properties of such dynamic systems at this specific point at the edge of chaos has a fractal structure not previously known.

Yes, the attractor. It is such a laden term. For one, it does not show up in the etymology dictionaries I use
"No results were found for attractor"

Why is that? I have found that perplexing since it is kind of paramount in the next 'maths'. The actual math is identical to Biblical texts and most mythologies about the 12 gathering about the one. Hmmm...I should go'sleep and ponder this a bit more. Maybe write Chris and see if he is still alive!

Last year I tried to order some (100 or more) pine tree saplings to plant, but the last 2 states that I've lived in (own in) won't legally accept those trees for any shipment to.

I think it has to do with possible beetles and/or diseases associated with those pines.

Yet NM does allow importation of those trees (from inside the US, btw).

Oh well ...

Sun-like stars spotted ejecting huge bursts of matter into space

In 13 stars, most of which were like our sun, the researchers saw dips in these emissions lasting up to 10 hours, with 21 such events spotted. They argue that these dips are the result of coronal mass ejections throwing material from the star into space, reducing the mass of the corona.

If a star releases a very strong coronal mass ejection and a planet in the firing line is close enough, “you can drive away the whole atmosphere from the planet”, says Veronig.

The Perseverance rover converted carbon dioxide into oxygen on Mars, marking the first time breathable air has been made on another planet, NASA announced Wednesday.

A toaster-sized instrument called MOXIE – short for Mars Oxygen In-Situ Resource Utilization Experiment – made the feat possible. Since Mars' atmosphere is 96% carbon dioxide, MOXIE works by separating oxygen atoms from carbon dioxide molecules.

"This is a critical first step at converting carbon dioxide to oxygen on Mars," said Jim Reuter, associate administrator for NASA's Space Technology Mission Directorate. "MOXIE has more work to do, but the results from this technology demonstration are full of promise as we move toward our goal of one day seeing humans on Mars."
