Dead birds in Houston
This is from yesterday . I did not take the picture. I work less than 5 miles from the disaster. I did smell a sweet odor this morning ,but that’s it. I think everything is blown out of proportion.

The chemicals being released are toxic. It's not being blown out of proportion.

My area had a benzene spill in the mid-90s in a rural area (train derailed) and it immediately killed and injured livestock, and injured several people in the area (farmers.) We had a refinery explosion and fire last year up here, and they are still measuring high levels of toxic materials in the soil and water.

If your facility uses hydrogen floride in processing its stuff, and that HF tank blows or leaks, it is highly toxic, and will kill thousands in the area. (Our zone of death is a 10 mile ring.) If I lived within 10 miles of that facility, I would not shelter in place, I would evac.

Best of luck.
