A part of politics is personal, not ideological. So, yea, a taunting Donald Trump would cause resentment in the woman. But she was described as having a bully-mean streak herself.

Beyond the personalities of person A, B or C, if Bush Sr's man-dude wife was ideologically well grounded - to the right, not left (as too many people foolishly are in today's America) - she'd have been way more disgusted by the crap of Bill/Hillary and Barack to be all that indignant about Trump.

She'd realize the "read my lips, no new taxes," "kinder and gentler" and "Islam is a religion of peace" of her husband and son were way more deserving of causing resentment than things like "low energy Jeb" or "lying Ted."

In my travels, I met a woman, who was a conference organizer, and Barbara Bush was the main speaker, so this woman had to work with her. She said Barbara Bush was an arrogant bitch and the worst person she ever met.
