CNN Tries To Play Trump Against Stephen Miller

CNN’s Erin Burnett OutFront panel re-introduced a time-tested strategy to divide President Donald Trump from one of his top advisers: in this case, White House “immigration guru” Stephen Miller.

President Trump’s threat to send illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities has alarmed the mainstream media, which places responsibility for the threat with Miller. So Burnett showed a clip of Trump praising Miller but adding that he, Trump, is the one running policy.

CNN contributor April Ryan laid out the Democrat talking point.

“We’ve seen the president’s reaction when people get too much attention for issues. Like Steve Bannon. Remember him? He’s now out of the White House. So, um, if I were Stephen Miller I would tread lightly as I craft the immigration policies that this president is doing that’s breaking the rule of law in this nation. It’s Stephen Miller. It is Stephen Miller. It is Stephen Miller,” Ryan said.
