earlier then I normally got to bed...but first and foremost aside from my son and a new born I consider kin...on my prayer recitations are you and your wife.

Praying for Mrs. Louis and for all medical people bringing her to complete health. Believing she will have decades of healthy, robust life. The best is yet to come. In Jesus' name.

Well she is in much much better spirits today. Your prayers have truly been a blessing for us. She had issues with bleeding following the catheterization, which was done via her wrist. I believe I wrote they see 'something' on one heart wall, and the cardiac MRI will show just what that is and allow them to determine if surgery or a lifetime on blood thinners is indicated.

Last night was the first good night's sleep she has had in a week and her pain levels are around a six to seven vs. the preceding week's levels of nine to ten.

I had somewhat of a crying meltdown finally yesterday from the stress of all this when she had no chance to order a dinner she liked and someone in the cafeteria screwed up and sent her a meal composed entirely of food and drink that the bottom of her dietary list said specifically to NOT send to her, that started her into a crying depression. I resolved it (after conferring with the RN) by bringing her a "Little Caesar's Pizza", and a monster energy drink. Their combination plus hopefully kind gentle attention from me got her back to very much being herself.

I've had to go to work today, am home ready to shower and leave for the office. The MRI will be no problem and as they aren't planning any other procedure she should be fine until I may return to her.

Again thank you ALL for your prayers, kindness, and consideration. You have held us up through this painful week and God's blessings are raining down upon us. Her work is even going to do a FMLA filing so she will remain paid during the length of her time unable to work.

I will continue with updates for you as she has her MRI and the doctors make a determination of what the course of her treatment and healing will be.

I've had to cut the smilies to reply, but please keep them coming.

I was NPO when I had my cardiac catheterization.

Thank you everyone for the continuing prayers, I apologize for my brevity, but she has texted me she is being moved to a different room as the open heart surgery now appears to be on the table following the cardiac MRI.


She was too after midnight; I was not going to deny her a meal she liked and wanted while she could still have it.

While their food is pretty good, it's a comfort to have something you personally enjoy while confined to a hospital room.

I'm very careful to check with the vascular or cardiac surgeons or RN staff prior to 'going off the reservation' for other food or drink.

Okay, so she may need surgery tomorrow and this thread has had its emotional highs and lows so here is some humor I feel I must add to 'lighten the room'.

This was outside in the courtyard out my wife's window. Who puts a twenty foot tall statue of a giraffe positioned so that it's looking into a patient's room!?!?!?

The nurse and her were laughing yesterday when I told the nurse she could have fun if she is assigned to the patient in the room beside Mrs. Louis' and they freak out seeing that looking in the window when they open the blinds.

The nurse could say "What do you mean a giraffe is looking in your window? There is nothing outside but trees and tables."



There is also a life-sized mama elephant with baby in the same courtyard. They had peacocks in a different one when I was there a decade ago, but they died of old age and were never replaced.
