She has come through surgery!

The surgeon just called my phone from the OR and said he removed a substantial clot from her artery and she is recovering and will be back to her room in about an hour.

He spent about ten minutes on the phone explaining what he found and what next steps in her care tentatively will be.

He said usually these clots come from the heart so he has ordered a cardiac imaging to see if she has issues and clotting there, but this is a problem as she needs blood thinners now from the clot, but the unresolved intestinal bleeding will worsen. So that cause must still be found and resolved.

I'll see her in about an hour and share your prayers and posts with her and keep GLP updated.

An emergency surgery for a cerebral hemorrhage and recovering, walking with a cane. I had a bout of dizziness that evening and canceled a dental cleaning yesterday, brushed my teeth and spit out blood. Something is up.
At any rate a good friend had a GI bleed in an obscure section of the small bowel that eluded the doctors for awhile. Femoral blood clot is unusual, my husband had a femoral hernia. Doctor said he hadn’t seen one in years, but he had two recently, the other guy had clots and dead bowel in his.
Hoping for the best.
Bran muffins and use cast iron awhile, get that blood level back up.
