Multiple people shot in Stockton California

STOCKTON — Police and rescue personnel are at the scene of a shooting at March Lane and Holiday Drive in Stockton, where police reported just before 8 p.m. that as many as five victims have been struck by gunfire and the two most critical have been taken to San Joaquin General.

It was the deadliest US school shooting of the 1980s. The gunman, Patrick Purdy, who had a long criminal history, shot and killed five schoolchildren and wounded 32 others. As first responders arrived at the scene, Purdy committed suicide by shooting himself in the head. His victims were predominantly Southeast Asian refugees.
