looking backwards at the "pop music" of my life and era, i think these guys deserve more credit than they get.

i think this band is as influential as the Velvet Underground and as genre defining as Rush.

basically the industry said you dont fit!

and they said NO PROBLEM! WE'LL MAKE OUR OWN DOOR!!

and others followed and music changed.

usually, when a "Serious" music fan like me "loses" an artist to the mainstream it is a tragedy, but with THESE GUYS?

I agree with you op. This band was hugely influential in a very unique understated way. post punk pre grunge, real instruments, bold and thoughtful political stances, highly literate, innovative compositions.



I prefer their earlier albums personally, before they hit the popular airwaves. Some real golden moments in some of those albums.
