I will walk eyes wide open to the right dog at the right time. My heart will break again. And it will always be worth it. Doing our best here to comfort our remaining dog, Marnie. Scruffy and Marnie grew up together, so she's having a rough time. Scruffy was"my" dog, Marnie is my husband's dog. Just the way they chose their person. BTW, Scruffy looked just like the cartoon version of the Grinch who Stole Christmas. Thank you again . |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 77089524 United States 05/10/2019 04:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Hello GLP friends. Quoting: monkeyflower A week ago today my dog crossed the bridge. He is no longer in pain. I miss him so much, but knowing he is out of pain is a blessing and comfort to me. I lost Scruffy in the morning and in the afternoon they brought a hospital bed for me. It is what it is and I am at peace concerning my declining health. I simply miss my dog. I have been in lurk mode for a while due to being to ill to type. Louis, I prayed for you and your wife. I've prayed for others here too. And I have lurked and read. Also, Trinity, take my money please! Anyhow, my dog never left my side for 13 yrs. That dog knew when I was at my best and worst. He always, always was so in tune...hard to explain, but I think for people with pets it needs no further explication. I would like to please ask for prayers, good vibes, good energy to help me through the the grief of losing scruffy. Also, Danny you remain in my prayers. Telco guy, a personal hero to me for all of the news and information concerning Fukishima. You and your wife are in my prayers and I think of you often. Citizen Perth! Damn brian fog. Also, medical marijuana is a blessing. ~monkeyflower I will pray for you my dear monkeyflower and so sorry for Scruffy! |

You know the last thing Scruffy would want is to make you sad so instead of being sad, be grateful for all the hugs, kisses, tears and love the two of you had. Think of all the silly things Scruffy did to make you laugh (I know it happened), all the times he made you just shake your head in amazement at how loving and kind he was (I know that happened to). Scruffy was a gift from God, cherish the memories and carry the lessons he taught you about love as you move forward. (I know he taught you those lessons too). How do I know all these things? Because just as you, I have experienced them as well. Will the pain go away? Sure, with time...will the memories fade? Mine never have.....and now, I cherish those too! Guess what, you will too... They cannot live in the heaven worlds until they had a human incarnation with a HUMAN BRAIN.I suggest this lovely dog will be on that path soon. Many wonderful animals who have enjoyed human love and homes and given back are on the path to the life eternal. KNOW OP you might see him up there some day though when his time comes to make the eternal choice... |

User ID: 74619032 United States 05/10/2019 06:33 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | cosmicgypsy, I am so glad you are feeling better. I lit a candle for you after I read about your heart attack. Also, yay!! you non-smoker you! Uhg, I'm not all the way off of cigs, but I'm waaay more on vaping. I'm getting there, but that last little bit is going to be slowly. I was just thinking about the first few weeks after the heart attack, and I so felt all the prayers and well wishes. Those made a bad situation beautiful.... I'm sorry to hear about your beloved dog. I also know the pain of losing a close fur friend. I still miss my Easter-kitty, and it's been over a decade. Fortunately for all of us, we have all of us to have our backs when things go sideways. We're fortunate that way. My healing heart to yours, lovey.... Sorry To Bust Your Bubble
User ID: 52680061 United States 05/10/2019 08:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I feel for your situation, it's the one thing we all have in common. I'd like to share this quote from a Dean Koontz book called Innocence. It's about dogs (Koontz is a dog lover). "Years later, after other experiences with dogs, I wondered if their species were shaped and charmed to serve as four-legged guides able to assist in leading humanity back to our first-and lost-home. By the example of their joy and humility, by wanting nothing more than food and play and love, by the deep satisfaction that they take from those humble things, they belie all creeds of power and fame. Although they have the teeth to tear, it is by swish of tail and yearning eyes that they most easily get what they want." You were blessed to experience that. You were and are blessed. The more I know, the crazier I appear to be. Anonymous Coward User ID: 19876247 United States 05/10/2019 08:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I lost "Pup" in July 2017 and still look for her when I come home... Best dog ever! If anyone was my soulmate - it was that dog! And I do t believe in soulmates. We had a special non- verbal and verbal communication unmatched ... I had a special cat as a child and never got another ... This was the only dog that claimed me as her favorite ... She was mine even though I got her as a gift to another . I went thru some personal hells with her ... And the comfort of an understanding pet is unmatched She traveled with me in her car seat over 50,000 miles ... Went canoeing and hiking ... To Niagara Falls Gorge walk ... To FLORIDA family reunions ... Almost everywhere and never a complaint - she was up for anything as long as she could go. When I prepared to leave the house her favorite words were "Pup's comin' " and told her to go get her ball - and the tail wagging and happy leaping walk was unmistakeable. I miss her everyday I never thought I'd lose her at only 13 1/2 as some toy dogs live to 20 yrs R.I.P. PUP ( she had a fancy name too - preferred Pup) You are right to grieve such a nobel companion as your dog ... I've known people that tried to replace their special pets and it's never the same if you were truly bonded as only man and dog could be. Wait to get another pet and grieve a true friend lost. Then decide . She kept me healthy and engaged to be more and keep going. And Pup sure loved my cooking like nobody ever could. What a positive force she was in the world She helped everyone she met Sorry OP for your loss. It's a profound loss for a dog lover. I put her enlarged picture on the wall and it greets me when I come home. |
