Even that aside... they gatekeep the truth. Brian's a sociopath who has corrupted Mia, an empath. No one should guard the truth behind money. He's crass and talks to you like you're his competition. It was this very demeanour which has shut off a lot of people from this info because, blatantly, your gut never lies and only somebody who's out to get you tells you to ignore it. He ain't here for you or Mia but himself. His series is insufferable and you can just read by his very actions. He doesn't have the best intentions. He only sees Mia as a utility, not a person. They're, sadly, right but just because they're right doesn't take away the fact they are profiting off of fear and a false camaraderie. She cares about these people but he doesn't and is corrupting her to not care. It's just obvious.
