Mourn for his passing, yet don't be drug down by it. Our lives go on and yours will too. Remember the best times and let the bad/sad times slip from your memory. Ours is a temporary moment on this planet and your father finally found out what the afterlife is like. Soon, within fifty years, our generation will be finding out that secret. God bless you, Dace. Hope the heartache wanes quickly and the memories are very pleasant. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 76077911 United States 05/26/2019 11:59 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So very sorry. To us what we see is awkward grotesque even. However he is set free to bliss. My uncle died and his death mask was not pretty. I did the honor of closing his eyes and putting him into a rested posture. His nurses were beside themselves. Though I think they may have overdosed him but he was late stage dementia so I will never know. Had to move his body around to put clothes on him. He fought the whole time. I did it because of my cadaver experience in school and to spare my father the heart ache. Blessings to you and your family. |

Even though it must have been so rough to find him like that, I hope you can find peace in the fact that that was just one moment in an entire life. He will always live on in you, through the way you live your life and the memories and moments you shared. Always in your heart and never forgotten. |

Dreamer of Dreams User ID: 76293992 United States 05/26/2019 12:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | He went out like Elvis.... Quoting: Dace I found him in his bathroom, a tiny half-bath barely as big as a closet. Completely naked, heart attack on the toilet and he fell forward into a shelf 2 feet in front.....ending up with a twisted neck and a shitty ass sticking up in the air. 911 wanted me to get him flat on his back but i couldnt budge him he was so wedged between the toilet and a vanity. My friends father died the same way. Apparently its common to feel the need to go to the toilet pre heart attack. I heard the same thing from the paramedics... Now that im getting older i can look forward to freaking out whenever i feel the urge to go shit....yay. ( the more you know!) I don't think it's necessarily that you get the urge to shit before you die, but the fact that all the straining can induce heart attack or stroke. In any case, I'm very sorry to hear that. You have my deepest sympathy and condolences. "We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time." - T. S. Knew this was coming.. Seen a few dead bodies but it's different when it's not a stranger...also finding them in a weird situation is unsettling. Quoting: Dace Oh man, so sorry to hear that Dace :(. Praying for you. |

WEDGE User ID: 11376882 United States 05/26/2019 01:14 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Mine did too. Sorry for your loss. A good Dad is hard to come by. I pray you didn't have the other-a poor or non-existent father can very well have a detrimental effect/affect on his child. In the future, you will remember quite alot about and with him-some bad but mostly good times. What really sucks? Is all the questions you'll come up with that you coulda/shoulda asked him, and that now you will need to rely on your own critical thinking, logic, reason, intelligence and wisdom. NEVER EMOTION. That's why they call them "the cold, hard facts". In particular, anything he knew of family history. You may not care now, but if/when you have children they will ask those questions as you probably did. As children we ask childish questions. As adults, we get to wrapped up in our own myopic lives to remember to ask. I was the the only son of the only son, of the patriarch of the entire family line. My father was born over 100 years ago and had me very late in life-a Gen-X'er. He looked at me like an Alien most times. I could have used more of his teachings and training-particularly these days. During his grade and high school years they had to know Latin, and for good reason. Most of our higher-language comes from Latin. That's when education meant something, it wasn't "indoctrination" to psychologically fuck-up our youth for life...turn them into little Useful Idiots. Again, sorry for your loss. |
