Samaritans Purse out of Charlotte (Billy Graham Compound) brought back Ebola when their doctor and nurse return from a Hot Zone. They were quarantined in a trailer in the Charlotte facility for the incubation period and showed no sign of the disease. However, Ebola can live inside a person for an extended period for months (possibly years). |

Because of the danger that many CDC doctors have been saying for many years: eventually an outbreak pandemic WILL HAPPEN. The Coming Plague is a large technical book that was fascinating to read. Basically covers the same principle, that the CDC cannot prevent disease (they can only count deaths). But in a world where biological weapons are a threat... that makes it more scary. |

Quoting: MissCleo Ebola Reston was from Philippines Macaques!!! Not from Africa. It was suspected that the monkeys contracted both diseases while in transit aboard KLM airlines before reaching Reston. WTF? That is true, they originally thought it was Ebola Zaire, as the markers were the same, but the symptoms were not. What this series does show, is just how deadly Ebola can be, and how easily spread. There is thread up now, albeit somewhat misleading, on migrants from the Congo who are going to Mexico. It just takes one who is infected, in a caravan of migrants to bring this bug to our soil. Proud to be deplorable The only constant is change The winds of anger, blows out the candle of intelligence "Slowly, like moisture entering the dying tree trunk, slowly filling and rotting it, so did the world and inertia creep into his soul; it slowly filled his soul, made it heavy, made it tired, sent it to sleep" "One must find the source within one's own Self, one must possess it" |

There were interviews with the real Jaxx doctors. I cannot recall the name of this special, anyone remember. It had amazing info on Ebola. I've read a few books on pandemics. The H1N1 in the pig farm in Mexico was interesting. And Sars. Sars Severe something something lung infection mutated from bird flu in Oriental Asia. Killed a bunch. When it got to the West it was MARS mild something something. H1N1 in the farm in Mexico came when the Mexican government tried to kill stray dogs because of rabies spread to the US, and pressure to act. So they released what they thought was H1N8 a dog only virus... wasn't... was too close to H1N1 and infected a bunch of people and went worldwide. Human error, poor government practice, risks taken and now Congo immigrants not being screened. Who is flying the Congolese to Mexico? |

After I had finished it, I was so moved by the bravery and utter dedication of Dr. Nancy Jaax [the key figure in the story] that I picked up the phone and thanked her parents for having such a noble daughter... since it turned out she was a local girl born/raised in a nearby Kansas town! Needless to say, they were first shocked by my call and then humbly grateful. GOOD PEOPLE! Last Edited by GSB/LTD on 05/30/2019 11:50 PM |

We were flying back from a trade show in Atlanta when this broke out, on planes. There were more then a few people sick on that plane, including the buyer I was flying home with. Some tense days followed that flight. One of the main themes of the series, was everyone but Dr. Jaxx was so worried about covering their ass and corporate greed, they were willing to let this "monster" spread to a city of six million. Quoting: Fire & Ice I'm 8 1/2 minutes in and so far I'm supposed to believe an old white man went cave exploring and gave Ebola to his black Dr. and that is how Africa gets Ebola outbreaks. The series bounces back and forth from the outbreak in Zaire, to the outbreak in Reston Virginia. The old white guy, Dr. Carter, never got the virus, though he spent his life, chasing this "Monster". The Monster Will return. Field exploration was big in the 1970's. There were crews in the Amazon too. Working for big pharma at the time, looking for botanicals to "cure". Cave is probably metaphor or a lame way to describe the conditions? Or poor tracing of events. Meaning that they don't actually know the contact point but the cave was a memorable event that stood out. |

The Flash Point was an abandoned Navy base in NYC. Suddenly mosquitos that could fly 5-10 miles replaced the lesser mosquitos that only flew a maximum of 1 mile from their nests. The attack was on the US Racehorse industry. Belmont Racetrack, and the Meadowlands close by. Over the next 10 years the virus spread to many horse farms across the US along with infecting humans but only with mild symptoms. Sidenote: Now there is a huge killer at Santa Anita Racetrack, horses are dropping at an alarming rate. |
