Snippet from THE ILIAD, by Homer.
(Favorite book of Alexander The Great)

The Iliad, Book I,
[A Friend Consigned to Death]

Snippet ~

"// ... "Shades that are images of used-up men motion me away, will not receive me among their hosts beyond the river.

I wander about the wide gates and the hall of Death.

Give me your hand. I sorrow.
When thou shalt have allotted me my fire I will not fare here from the dark again.

As living men we'll no more sit apart from our companions, making plans.

The day of wrath appointed for me at my birth engulfed and took me down.

Thou too, Akhilleus, face iron destiny, godlike as thou art, to die under the wall of highborn Trojans."

“The New Colossus” by Emma Lazarus
(1849-1887)

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
with conquering limbs astride from land to land;
here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
a mighty woman with a torch,
whose flame is the imprisoned lightning,
and her name ~
Mother of Exiles.
//
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

~~~
Meaning of the Poem Inscribed on the Statue of Liberty in New York harbor, this sonnet may have the greatest placement of any English poem.
It also has one of the greatest placements in history. Lazarus compares the Statue of Liberty to the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
Like the Statue of Liberty, the Colossus of Rhodes was an enormous god-like statue positioned in a harbor.
Although the Colossus of Rhodes no longer stands, it symbolizes the ancient Greek world and the greatness of the ancient Greek and Roman civilization, which was lost for a thousand years to the West, and only fully recovered again during the Renaissance.
“The New Colossus” succinctly crystallizes the connection between the ancient world and America, a modern nation.
It’s a connection that can be seen in the White House and other state and judicial buildings across America that architecturally mirror ancient Greek and Roman buildings; and in the American political system that mirrors Athenian Democracy and Roman Republicanism.
In the midst of this vast comparison of the ancient and the American, Lazarus still manages to clearly render America’s distinct character.
It is the can-do spirit of taking those persecuted and poor // and giving them a new opportunity and hope for the future, what she calls “the golden door.”
It is a uniquely scrappy and compassionate quality that sets Americans apart from the ancients.
The relevance of this poem stretches all the way back to the pilgrims fleeing religious persecution in Europe...//
(Christians fleeing Deep State assassins...)
I come here mostly when I'm bored
UFO's, the NWO, Politics and more
the doomsday threads, the Zeta heads,
Bliss Carman, et al., eds.
The World’s Best Poetry.
Volume III.
Sorrow and Consolation. 1904.
VI. Consolation
Blessed are They that Mourn
William Cullen Bryant (1794–1878)
OH, deem not they are blest alone
whose lives a peaceful tenor keep;
The Power who pities man, has shown
a blessing for the eyes that weep.
The light of smiles shall fill again
the lids that overflow with tears;
and weary hours of woe and pain
are promises of happier years.
There is a day of sunny rest
for every dark and troubled night;
and grief may bide an evening guest,
but joy shall come with early light.
And thou, who o’er thy friend’s low bier
dost shed the bitter drops like rain,
hope that a brighter, happier sphere
will give him to thy arms again.
Nor let the good man’s trust depart,
though life its common gifts deny,—
though with a pierced and bleeding heart,
and spurned of men, he goes to die.
For God hath marked each sorrowing day
and numbered every secret tear,
and heaven’s long age of bliss shall pay
for all his children suffer here.
BOUDICA
The story of Boudica is an amazing one. A woman who refused to be bullied, she stood up for herself, and took on the might of the Roman Empire.
This poem for kids by British writers Jon Bratton and Paul Perro was written in 2009, and celebrates Boudica's heroic stand.
If, after you have enjoyed the poem, you would like to know more about the warrior queen, please scroll down a little further for some interesting facts.
The illustrations on this page are by Mike Rooth.
[ + Video at link]
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BOUDICA WARRIOR QUEEN OF THE ICENI

This is a tale of Boudica.
The Iceni Warrior Queen,
One of the most fearsome women
There has ever been.

She wore colourful clothes and she
was tall and strong and loud.
She had a mane of long red hair.
You’d spot her in a crowd.

She and her husband the King ruled
a place where Norfolk is today.
The king made a deal with the Romans
and paid them to stay away.

When the king died though
things did not go as planned.
The Romans decided to claim
all the king’s wealth and land.

They came and stole from the Britons
who were angry at being cheated.
What’s more the romans were violent -
The Queen and her daughters mistreated.

Queen Boudica was quite outraged;
She had never been angrier.
She summoned all of the tribes to
a place now called East Anglia.

"We can't let them do this to us!"
She said, "It isn’t right.
Let's get an army together
and let’s give the Romans a fight!"

[Boudica in her chariot]

So all of the tribes joined forces,
they were led by the red-haired Queen
It was the biggest army that
Britain had ever seen.

Boudica’s army marched around
and they attacked town after town.
Wherever they found Romans lived
they burned their houses down.

In the end though the Britons lost,
and the Romans were the winners.
The Romans were well-trained soldiers,
and the Britons, just beginners.

And Boudicca's massive army
suffered its final defeat
well beaten by the Romans at
The Battle of Watling Street.

Yes Boudica lost in the end,
The Romans won, it's true,
but Boudica had scared them
and taught them a lesson or two.

Yes they regretted they’d crossed her,
they paid a price for being mean
to the Britons, and the princesses,
and the mighty Warrior Queen.

NUMBER 10

FACTS ABOUT BOUDICA

Women had few rights under Roman law, so when the Iceni king died and was succeeded by his widow Boudica (or Boadicea), the Romans did not accept it. Boadica was publicly beaten and her two daughters raped by Roman soldiers.

Boadica's response was to raise the biggest army Britain had ever seen, and destroy Roman settlements across Britain, including London.

Eventually though, her hordes were defeated by superior Roman skills and tactics (even though they outnumbered the Romans 20 to 1)

Boudica took poison rather than fall into the hands of the enemy.

There is a story that Boudica's body lies where she fell, in the place that is now Platform 10 of Kings Cross Station in London.

In fact, this is the reason that Harry Potter's Hogwarts Express leaves from platform nine and three quarters.
However, sadly, this is a myth.

The Warrior Queen's final battle was actually in modern Warwickshire.

I couldn't get through all of that video. I now know why I wrote what I wrote, but deleted in my post to you.

There are some harsh memories to be had, and I am definitely not her in this lifetime. Bold and courageous, yes....but she was a sword out warrior, and that I'm not. I've had memories of battles like in that video. Made me shiver watching that. That's why I just stopped. I'm not prepared to take all that on tonight.

There have also been some people in this lifetime who have hated me vehemently, and I mean on sight. I know that they were Romans from then. Their hatred of me has a particular energy sig to it. One of them actually sneered at me. He was an astrologist who ripped me off for a $75 reading because he couldn't "stand to be around" me enough to come back and finish what he was running away from. Heh, I think they all got what they deserved...but that's just from me reading up on her in the past.

She was no joke when it came to warring. She definitely has my respect, whether I was her or not.

{Blessed rebellion.}

blessed be your longing. your endless ache.
your sharp crystal shatter. your sea glass heart.

Blessed be the long, slow slide into desire.
The swift plunging wound to the heart.
The bleeding out onto the kitchen floor.

Blessed be the fierce of want and the howl of despair
and the swan dive of surrender.

Blessed be the indignation of right
and the never more naked of wrong.

Blessed be your strong smooth body and your roadmap of scars
and brittle bones that give way under the weight of lives unlived.

Blessed be the unmet passion, the relentless boredom,
the absolute certainty of regret.

Blessed be the sweet laughter. The hard fuck.
The bitter fight. The soft of impossible forgiveness.

Blessed be the restless seeker.
The relentless urgency.
The unanswered call.

Blessed be the giving up. The hope unraveled.
The void at the end.
The clenched fists and the desperate grasping
and the way it all slides away when the time comes.

Blessed be your trembling breath and your strong knees.
Blessed be your siren song and your briny tears
and your frantic prayer.

Blessed be your violin body,
your electric hipbone,
your staircase ribs.

Blessed be your slaughtered dreams
and your cynical projection.

Blessed be your fire of initiation
and your ritual of comfort.

Blessed be your secret shame.
Blessed be your whispered confession.
Blessed be your primal roar.

Blessed be the rejection.
The hollowed out, disregarded heart.
Blessed be the end of the rope,
the absence of expectation,
the way it all gives way eventually.

Blessed be the blood and guts and gore of it all.

Blessed be the emptiness of lust
and the brutal havoc of love
and the way peace grows in between cracks in cement.

Blessed be the dirty street corner hustle
and the pretty surface of things
and where they meet in the most sacred center.

Blessed be the harsh divinity.
The winged flight.
The salt skin.
The symphony of lust.

Blessed be the holy and the worship.
Blessed be the sacred mother.
Blessed be the faithless edges.
Blessed be the ritual of liturgy and agnostic faith.

Blessed be the profane and the provocation.
Blessed be the solitary pilgrimage
and the long journey home.
Blessed be the one who contains herself.

Blessed be the truth that demands reckoning
and the goodbye that wrenches long held secrets
from behind closed lips.

Blessed be the sucker punch bruises.
Blessed be smooth slide of sun behind the mountains.
Blessed be the wise desert and the pounding sea.

Blessed be the sweet swell of words.
The silent spaces between bodies.
The ragged sigh of breath on bone.

Blessed be the poet and the poem
and the one between them who has no words of her own.
Blessed be the plagiarism, the thievery,
the rash disregard for origin,
the gratitude for the beginning of things.

Blessed be our free fall into destiny.
Our slow burn. Our consuming fire.
Blessed be the breaking and becoming.
Blessed be the ugly. Blessed be the sweet sin.
Blessed be the rage. Blessed be the grace.

Blessed be. Blessed be. Blessed be.

In the end, all words are just another way to say Amen.

Spectre

of eyes so sore,
a storm has come
where calm may truly rest
where flashes burn
and trails all turn the trials into tests

the sun was dark,
the clouds had fade my prayers into dust
then shadows turn,
and memories change all sorrow into lust

O how days have grown,
like space and time
the distance between us
a force so strong
that pushed and pulled the tides between our trust

the haunting image of you and i
still so far from above
whose shades are not of black nor white ~
...the Spectre of Our Love.

it's been a long time
