For last year it’s been pasta run through a processor with either ground pork . Beef or stew chunks (run through processor ) and crushed green beans .. they seem to be growing tired of it .

I just boil a few pounds of meat of what is on discount (chicken/turkey-breast/cattlehip...) in water. After boiled i pull out the meat and cut it to little pices. In the meantime a bag of rice is boiled in the meat-water with some vegetables (carrots, cabbageturnip ....)

Let it cool down, put it in bags, and i have doggolunch for a week combined with some high quality dry food in the evening.

$5 for the whole batch (many servings). 3 cans Van Kamp's or Campbell's pork and beans. 1 lb. Ball Park hot dogs. 1 lg. can (28oz) Bush's Best baked beans. Cut dogs into bite size and mix all together in 2 qt. or larger microwave bowl. Heat, stirring once, until done......5-10 minutes. Now you have a huge bowl of beanie weenies that my dogs love!!!!!

I pick up chicken on sale. Put in a huge pot covering chicken with water, toss in some broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, peas, some rosemary and thyme and parsley , a little bit of chicken bullion. Cook for 1 1/2 hours. Pour in colander, save some stock. De-bone and de-fat. I use my food processor to grind up really fine, adding a little stock. Then I grind up the veggies and add to bowl. I cook a sweet potato, take out of skin and put in processor to make it soft and add to bowl. Then I cook some organic oatmeal to it and mix everything up. I freeze in 1 cup bags and give them 1/4 cup twice a day with good organic non GMO chicken dog food. Once in a while I make doggie meatballs and cook in oven. Happy puppies!

The best recipes are tailor made for your pet by the UC Davis vet school department of nutrition. You can find it at www.balanceit.com. If your pet has any health issues they will work with your vet also. You either pay for the recipes or you buy the powdered supplement to add to the recipes (human grade) and they give you the recipes for free. Our dog has a serious digestive illness and food allergies and they have given us his life back. Also if you need help in diagnosing food allergies, www.nutriscan.org, Dr. Dodds has an invaluable test that will narrow down what they can and cannot eat from a saliva sample. Also helped us. Our pup eats all organic and gluten free. Oatmeal, bison and walnut oil with green beans. We make it up and feed him three times daily. Been on this diet for 5 years with little tweaks here and there. Super healthy and going strong at 6 years old.

A dov thrives on a NATURAL diet.

Never ever EVER give a dog COOKED FOOD.

It will cause lots of problems...obesity..heart problems...and death.

But vets promote it because..MORE CUSTOMERS.

Feed your dog RAW FOOD...and veg.

Never had a single problem with my dog.

He is almost 20 years old and fit and healthy as when he was a pup.

Kibble..cooked food..and other shit "they" promote has NEVER ONCE entered his mouth.

And everyone elses dogs...get fat...have heart problems..liver problems..etc..and usually dont live past 10 to 12 years.

The vet industry IS an industry..just like big pharma.

Slightly off-topic, but, not really.

So, dogs here die from distemper, parvo and other non-common diseases in the states. I have taken in street dogs and puppies and tried to nurse them back to health (though distemper is almost impossible if pups are under 3 months or so).

Anyway, under the guidance of some of the vets here and local tradition, here is what we do; We boil chicken skin and bones then add broccoli, rice, and carrots. Beet juice (just a smidge or they won't eat it), a human multivitamin (dissolved), anti-virals (expensive) and an antibiotic, since these infections allow secondary infections to kill the dog.

This mixture has brought pups back from the brink of death. As long as they keep eating it, they will improve. The problem is when they lose their appetite and the mucus increases.

I have been able to re-habilitate and find homes with families for 26 dogs since we've been here using this recipe.

Re: Dog people ! Do you cook for your doggies ? I do . Share your recipes . Help me find something new !
In a manner of speaking. Dogs are omnivores, so I think giving them a varied diet is probably good for them. Now, I know the dog food manufacturers would disagree with that, but on the farm growing up our dogs ate table scraps mixed with kibble and always lived long and healthy lives. My pup now (16 months old Jack Russell) eats the same way. If I make an egg I will make an extra for her. If I trim up meat, I give her the scraps. If I make stew or chicken soup, she gets some on her kibble. If I have a banana or salad, she eats her share. I try to keep grains and salt away as much as possible, though, although I did give her a couple of nachos a little bit ago. I am careful about pork, also. A lot of dogs have a pork allergy. If you have a floppy-eared dog like a setter or German Shorthair, they will end up getting ear infections when they eat pork.
