I recently learned how true Proverbs 17:22 is from a medical standpoint.

Crushed spirit > stress > high cortisol > amino acid absorption issues > bone loss (plus muscle wasting and lymph node atrophy)

Cortisol is a catabolic hormone. Catabolism is cannibalistic. Sometimes your body needs to be able to eat itself. With high cortisol levels this cannibalistic effect can go into overdrive, get out of control, and cause serious bone loss and muscle wasting.

Sorry for going off topic on this, but that verse really jumped out at me, because I'm currently in this situation, dealing with some major health issues due to high cortisol caused by insane amounts of stress. The amount of weight I've lost due to muscle wasting in a short period of time is shocking.

I'm told what helps is getting more sleep (promotes growth hormone), intermittent fasting (increases insulin-like growth factor hormone), sunshine (Vitamin D), walking (relaxing exercise), potassium-rich foods (supports parasympathetic nervous system to balance out cortisol), and consuming liver and nutritional yeast (both loaded with B Vitamins which are depleted by stress and liver has Vitamin K2 which helps with Vitamin D absorption) and eggs (yolks high in Vitamin K2).

I'm just throwing this out there for anyone who is overstressed. Nowadays, stress is a real problem for a lot of people.

As for me, I guess it is up to everyone individually to decide whether they feel the need to help or not, whether they feel they have been wronged it the past or not. I never judge people on their opinion in matters like these, aside from unnecessary name calling and all that. That is not for me to decide.

All I know is that I have been in a similar situation many years ago, even though that was due to stupid shit I did to myself. If it wasn't for the ones that still believed in me, unconditionally, even though I proved them wrong more than once, I would not have gotten to the life that I live now. Would not have been the person that I am now. And now that I am in the position to help others myself, I will gladly pay that forward to those who struggle to make ends meet. And I have, also on GLP.

We sometimes end up in situations, where we dig a hole for ourselves that is too deep to crawl out. Some completely out of our hands, some through our own doings. It takes courage to reach out, overcoming our pride. It takes belief in ourselves and that of others to help us get back on track as much as possible. This society could use a bit more of that nowadays. Besides, help does not have to be financial. A lot of us are in the same boat when it comes to money, especially these days. Encouragement, a tap on the shoulder, a friendly word, advice, gesture can also work miracles and open our mind for a different path.

I know, there is also a lot of abuse when it comes to help. Something to do with fool me once, etc. Bush knows the exact saying. Just don't judge each other for reaching out anyway. Just do what you want to do or don't want to do.

But if you do end up in a situation like this, just don't be too stubborn, like I was, to sit and wait for the world to come down. There is help, there are solutions, if you just reach out and if all of us keep an eye open for those in need.

That picture was taken last year. I don't allow myself to get photographed often because I know I'm not very pretty. I've probably been photographed 10 times in the past 2 decades.

But last year just before she died, my aunt (who raised us)invited us to her home because she wanted us all to be together one last time before she died of cancer.

I love that photo. It means the world to me. It means even more to me since her husband (my father) died 7 weeks ago.

Cynical, a couple of pages back I was brutally honest about my life. For 30 years I never considered myself a victim of anything. It was a good life- filled with hard work but also joy and happiness.

I was able to give to others and also to the communities I lived in. I believe I'm close to doing that again.

Things happened.

Yes, go ahead and scrutinize all you like. Chip has done so for 15 years now.

I understand you defending him. I'm just tired of it and wish he'd leave me alone.

If you'd like to hear about all the good things I've experienced in my life I would be happy to share.

I have again gone over all the posts here and its so divided, Why... What are people picking up... So I looked for a pattern.

When it comes to heart warming advice you are very quick to ignore it.... I have at the start tried to engage you in a way that explores the issues that you have.
Rather you choose to respond to the platitudes that are given as if you are feeding on them.
Slowly and surely its interesting to read the replies....and to be brutally honest, people are responding as if they have been manipulated.

You are in your situation not because of bad luck but rather the decisions you have made in the past. Again and to be bruttaly honest you have turned yourself into a victim... It s your safe space because you feel safe with the attention it garnishes.

IMO I think you play the victim card very professionally after all you have had many years to hone this `skill`.

With you Miggy... its NEVER about me being to blame... its always someone or something else.... OWN you issue and deal with it...

The GO fund me part is only a sticking plaster, and it will soon come of... Only to expose the wound that you carry within your self.

Women do tend to give in to emotions more than men. It can be a weakness, but it can also be a strength. God’s plan for our lives make a man and a woman the perfect match. Today’s society alienates us from each other.

I can understand your position. Sometimes, enough is enough, even when somebody has hit rock bottom. I responded to her because I too spent 30 years loving the wrong guy. Rebuilding my life wasn’t pretty

Kicking a person when they are down, I am sure nothing good comes from it though

I think it’s your poor poor me attitude that gets people mad at you Miggy. Almost 60 and still at minimum wage jobs? Pull yourself up by your bootstraps and help yourself. Your “story “ is sad, but it’s not that sad.

We all want you to be happy and successful but your same old song, begging for our hard earned money is getting stale. We’ve had hardships too. Some much worse than you.

You ignore well meaning advice, and offers of a hand up and only want hand outs.

Go back to school, get some training, better yourself. I’m your same age, you are not too old to go back to school. The majority of us have been in your shoes. Living off the generosity of others isn’t something you can put on your resume. Also, I’m fairly positive you do this regularly on other forums. I’ve seen the picture elsewhere.

You are playing good well meaning people, Miggy and answer criticism with more poor poor me, how dare you question poor poor me, stories. Violent words against women is abuse. Toxic masculinity is defined as: domestic violence, using domestic violence to settle issues, boys will be boys excuse, dismissing emotions or emotional outbursts as wrong, treating women as weaker or other objectifying descriptors like fragility.

Toxic masculinity usually is an indication of personality disorders and relates back to unhealthy behavior. There is a cycle of domestic violence that everyone needs to be aware of.

Of course Chip has PTSD from being a cop, that's common. Hope he gets some help. Unfortunate when people have a chip on their shoulder like that the only one who will knock it off is Robert Conrad, and he's dead. (chip on his shoulder, get it, haha).

Correction: Robert Conrad isn't dead. He's 84 years old. He played in Wild Wild West, the tv series. He's awesome.
