You believe you've found a TPTB that is low hanging fruit within reach and a perfect level at which to gleefully attack. I'm assuming this is your five minutes of hate. I'm going to tell you something. It probably won't change your obsession, but you may as well know who you are attacking. I was a toddler taken from a war torn area and then illegally adopted. A war orphan, the easiest type of child to disappear on this planet. A ghost. I was a cash cow for the person who received me. Quoting: Furrry Pete The fantasy is that religion makes a good functioning society, I think looking at society should put the lie to that. What does the bible say about the Law of religion? We were better off without it. Society is already limping along. Religion's a crutch. I'm not going to kick it out from under them. But an ideal society... would probably be more transparent about why we should be good to each other, and protective, and put it back in our hands. Still, mechanically, I don't think enough brains function that way. They genuinely seem to falter without that guy in the sky. What is religion, just a way to see the world and make sense of it to different people. Religion isn't even the same for everyone. If a person sees the world through a physicist's reality is that a crutch too. It's the difference between growing your own corn or just eating it. Being at your wedding or sending a proxy in your place. At the end of the day, you're both fed and married. But how you got there is profoundly different. We have more respect for the things (and people) who we have to put in effort for. Putting it in god's hands takes away some of that effort. So, it's okay. God is essentially formula for a baby, and a baby can thrive on formula. But we all know there's something that's even better for them and it comes from the person closest to them. Interesting, milk versus meat, which the bible addresses. You would be correct in saying most of them want to be spoon fed milk. Then there's the rest of us. As much as I understand and recognize the need for religion to maintain a functioning society of people, I'm not as much into the fantasy of a good lord. While lords (governors of land) may have once been good and had the well being of their people at heart because a cared for slave is loyal and works more reliably; that simply is not the case with the lords of today. Like spoiled children, they expect something for nothing. They may be lords, but they are not good lords. owls are known to be able to 'spin' their heads 180 degrees either ways. that's the impression the above gave me, spin. transparency is not virtue on its own. in some cases it's fuel to the fire.
