Has anybody calculated the cost of 40 acres and a mule for every male slave at the end of the Civil War?
Oh wait... I just did that.
Avg cost for 1 acre in 1865 = $17 x 40 = $680
Adjusted for inflation = $10,700
Avg cost for a mule in 2019 = $3,000
Number of slaves in 1865 = 4,000,000 (assume 1/2 are male)
Total = 2,000,000 x ($10,700 + 3,000) = $27.4 TRILLION
in other words... t'ain't gonna happen.
