I'm not sure I get the picture. Shouldn't you hang a 40lb punching bag from the ceiling? Or don't they make special frames to support the bags?

[ link to rdxsports.com (secure)] Thanks for checking out my thread!  The wall 2x4's have two nails, top and bottom , connecting them to the rest of the wall, plus the sheetrock screws. There are probably trusses in your ceiling, giving better strength. Here is an ebay link for some ceiling swivel mounts. You can adjust the height of the bag with the length of chain that you hang it by. I wouldn't hang it in the center of the room, but within 5 ft or so of the walls.
