This is exactly what I'm afraid of.

I posted a video in the other thread explaining a bit about the Santa Barbara Block and how it created the Garlock.

It's that SB Block that created the big bend in the San Andreas and stopped it from moving northward. If that Garlock goes we are in big trouble.

Ah hell, here it is. It's short - 12 seconds. As the SB block twists around, it creates the east/west Garlock fault.

Also, the 1937 Joe Brandt vision of Los Angeles falling into the ocean, with buildings sideways and breaking into pieces noted that it happened from the Garlock fault which is what triggered it. This might be the start of it, some foreshocks.

How accurate are the USGS predictions? I thought our ability to predict was sketchy at best?

Well, this has me crossing my arms and raising an eyebrow. Cute video, BUT...what is the time frame for that block to move North? Is it a couple of months or a few millennium?

Back in the 60s they said they can predict EQs like the weather, they just never know how big or small they will be.

Just wow if they are actually predicting things. Did that the other day. Said a 5 within 15 minutes, and iirc, there was a 4.7 in the time frame.
