Also stock some "chicken broth" and "tomato sauce", and some "cooking oil". These will add some 'flavor' to your rice. Get short grain rice, fry it lightly, add chicken broth and tomato sauce, let simmer... Now you have Spanish rice and beans.Way better than plain rice IMO.  Frying the rice first sounds very appealing!
