The Mayan Calendar was right all along - Predicting a cosmic cyclical event
The words climate change is really a guise for a naturally occurring cycle. It should be called climate cycle. The Ancient Mayans were aware of it. December 21st 2012 wasn't a dooms date. It was a period in a cosmic cycle where everything would start changing - so they created their calendar to mark this serious change approaching.

The extreme weather, cosmic radiation, a quiet sun, weakening magnetic field, quickly moving magnetic poles.. quite possibly the "quickening" and awakening of human consciousness are at play due to this cosmic change...

IMO the Mayans were right all along, a slowly approaching change coming. Haven't things really picked up since 2012? Especially this wild weather...

It's plausible they were aware the whole time all those years ago, of what has and is to come...

In 2012 Hudson Bay 4-Point wool blankets were $370 retail but they would go on sale for $250-$275.

Today only 7yrs later the same blankets retail for $500 and they do not go on sale. Stores can NOT keep them in stock at full retail price. The prices will continue to go up.

Many more people are aware of the coming cooling cycle. I am glad I began stacking blankets, axes, and other cold weather gear 7+yrs ago.

IDK- After looking into it for a minute, I think those things are just status symbols for Canucks- here is a pretty cozy looking one from France for under $200 (same size).

Stack a couple good ol' fashion Army/MC issue ones (under $50 a pop) and you'll likely get the same effect-

You might be on to something though OP... might have to start stocking-up on good wool socks and stuff.
