I recently read about the connection of the hands through head and stomach to instill life force into a person. On the same vein.

Yes just like how illusionists do not want you to look at their hands. Ritual is a crutch for man to feed upon. A camouflage for belief. It is said. Far be it from me to defend the rituals of other men, but the Sun rising and setting at appointed intervals should be ritual enough alone.
