I know NYC pretty well, and what's happening there is much worse than has ever happened. I used to be in the city frequently during the "bad old days" of the 1970's, and there were some problem areas, and Times Square was seedy, but Times Square wasn't dangerous. I was there frequently. There were hookers and such, but that's up to you whether you're into that. Not dangerous.

Now, the police are intentionally demoralized, and DeBlasio has another year or more left on his term, and Cyrus Vance Jr. the DA wants to tear it all down too. I don't see anyone able to stop them.
