Prometheus and Alien Covenant Sequel? Disney commits to sequel "Alien Awakenings" soon!

O.K. Someone asked me JUST RECENTLY...."Why do you insist on "bumping your

The idea is that it (the first bump) "HOLDS A PLACE AT THE FRONT OF
THE THREAD" (just in case we get some really great
"extra information" coming in later we didn't have
when the thread was first posted!)

comment. Boy, I'm surprised that I totally dropped the
connection you are mentioning between the "hiding in plain
sight" clues about the Pleiades and E.T.s and the fact that
some of the RESEARCH FOR THE ALIENS MOVIES comes directly
from author Wayne Hershel (without compensation, unfortunately) which IS A BIG DEAL FOR THE THREAD!

....Certainly, Ridley Scott has more "class" than to do an LBGT-Trans-species
number on stars Naomi Rapace--the Elizabeth Shaw of Prometheus
--or Michael Fassbender--The 2 Davids!

But...nothing would surprise me.

Covenant is one of the best movies I've seen. I know it gets a lot of hate, but that movie is loaded with mythical subtext and allegory.

THAT is exactly how I felt about it--and Prometheus
COULD HAVE been as good as Alien Covenant, except that
there was a LAST MINUTE CENSORING DISASTER *(on the "cutting
room floor") where the sub-plot the Scott brothers had hoped
to insert was GUTTED. This is NOT a well-known "conspiracy
theory"--but the Prometheus that the Scotts wished you to
view, was NOT the Prometheus you ended up seeing.

(That's all I'm going to say...my sources tell me to
"be careful" about the Scott Suicide!)

Now that you mention it, the ending to Prometheus did feel a little off. I also agree that it's an extremely well made and important movie. I am curious as to what the Scotts originally had planned, but I don't want you getting in trouble spilling it on a public forum.

I actually do not know what the original script 4 P. contained
nor what the circumstances were around the hasty "cutting
room floor" cuts were. Just a few conspiracy theories that
were floating around right before the release of Prometheus
following a suspicious delay (and coincidentally) right before the
elder Scott jumped off that bridge in L.A. in broad daylight.
(Some even thought Tony Scott may have been trying to
give a message to Tom Cruise since Tony and Tom had shot
a couple of films on or near that fatefull bridge. We
will never know. The "Back-Story" is woven solid now
and sealed up as tight as a drum with everyone close to him
keeping the secret to the grave.

One report had it that one of the Scott brothers had a
name of someone at the CDC--they were researching the
whole "global plague" idea (what David's clone would
eventually do on the Engineer's planet.) The person who
found the yellow sticky with the phone number of this
"insider at the CDC" never could locate the REAL person
or his real name (other than the alias he used) who was
giving them info on plagues and aerosol delivery of a
contaminant. Very strange circumstances around both this
odd "coincidence" and the suicide. We may never know the
real truth. But I never bought into Scott's jumping off
that bridge in broad daylight because he had a "brain
tumor." Yeah...right. The Family stood by the official

Cool thread bro .. but I have to say, the storyline progression of the alien films is so disjointed ( Ridley coming back to life etc.) that I just lost interest. The unveiling of the engineers was an interesting upgrade to the plot, but the alien monster no longer has any emotional impact like it did when we first saw it jump out of that dudes chest in the first movie.

Thread UPDATE TODAY: 7-19-2019

O.K. I'll be the FIRST to say it out loud:

I, personally, enjoyed the first in Tony and Ridley Scott's
series--the very first "ALIEN." But I thought their later
sequel "Prometheus" was a CLASSIC!"

Some folks were so "taken" with Prometheus, in fact, they
were able to have the know-how to make THEIR OWN "extended
version" (this one extends the OPENING of the movie rather
than a "twist" of the ending...I'm sure SOMEONE will come
up with that, too!)



DO YOU want to see THE BEGINNING 15-20 MINUTES OF PROMETHEUS the way
"one loyal fan" would have had it put together? (I think this excellent
amateur-YouTuber-version of Prometheus opening really ADDS A HUGE CONTEXT
FOR THE MOVIE'S BACK-STORY!) Yes! It's another "version" (A much
better one IMHO) of Prometheus CONTEXT (first 20 min. of the movie with
a possible NEW "TAKE" on the whole message for the storyline.) Link below:

classic "Prometheus" (pieced-together using "out-takes
and deleted scenes") from a loyal fan. Interesting to me
personally since I have ALWAYS BELIEVED that the original
"Prometheus" was re-edited before the film was released
(for some reason having to do with the REAL REASON Ridley Scott's brother died a "suspicious death" ruled suicide in
2012!)

HOW DO YOU THINK THIS "AMATEUR" ALTERNATE BEGINNING CONTEXT
ALTERS THE "MESSAGE" OF PROMETHEUS? WAS THE FILM RE-EDITED

I finally watched the movie last night, so disappointing..

The narrative... just kill yourself, there is no hope, AI has deemed you unworthy of life.

I'm sad that you didn't find Prometheus a Grade A movie
(as I did)...you might enjoy the next one called "Alien
Covenant" that gives you more insight into the first movie
Prometheus.

I actually had a more POSITIVE "take" on Prometheus (which
by the way had its script written by the script writer for
T.V. series "LOST"==I'm doing a marathon on that one currently!)

I thought it was more a look at philosphical questions
like: How far should an intelligent species actually GO
in terms of colonizing a planet--is a "full-planet wipe-out"
of its indigenous lifeforms justified to replace it with
your own? ...And...we should be taking a MORE SERIOUS LOOK
at A.I. with this fictional account of "what could go wrong"
and NOT PROCEED SO FAST ACCEPTING THIS AS A "GOOD TECHNOLOGY"
FOR OUR FUTURE!

Things like that kept the movie a good experience for
me...but then, if you take everything literally you are
going to miss a good deal.

prometheus was great , far better than any of the "alien" films

unfortunate they decided to try to appeal to fans of the "alien" films in the covenant sequel

prometheus came close to abandoning the usual tropes of a sequel .. taking the plot elements used before and exaggerating them even more

temptation to do bring a lot of "alien" elements back into a sequel will be irresistible

colonists arrive at wtf that original destination was, and David is pretending to be walter ... so obviously David is going to introduce his alien monsters and it will be one long alien / human battle sequence

one fun element they could throw in ... David will say he's really Walter and claim Daniels has succumbed to mental illness, and part of the plot will be Daniels trying to escape confinement and convince the colonists she's not crazy

apparently there was. LOT of footage cut from prometheus

so there could be an "uncut" or "directors" cut version available now, might be worth watching again if you can find that

in Covenant I was impressed by fassbender portrayal of Walter / David

they really seem like two separate characters ... I think thats hard to do, I don't know if all actors could do that, within the same film that is

I love these kinds of movies but I am not happy with the push to demoralize mankind and push AI as our superior.

Yeah...I was a bit let down by the Alien Covenant movie
--it went a little TOO DARK for me, as well.

We'll have to see what they do with Alien Awakenings--if
they ever do a sequel. Sometimes they plan to do it and
something comes up! That's Hollywood, folks! lol!
