my own private mandela moment

In the course of my job duties, I have to record lot numbers of the supplies I use. I record them on paper for one employer and into a computer system of the place we are contracted to perform our services. Now all of a sudden one of the numbers I have been recording for the last year and half has disappeared in the computer system record. And everyone tells me, No you record it the same box as you record the lot number for another one of our supplies. Ie two numbers in one box labeled just for that one item...I have never ever done this in the past and my boss insists this has been the way it always was at that location. In May before my vacation I recorded both numbers in seperate boxes but when I came back its all different now and the procedure is something that doesnt even make sense. Like how could you trace the lot number if you needed and thats the whole purpose of recording it in the first place. Sigh ..any yes Im from the Berenstein bears Sex IN the city and Standing there by the record machine universe.
