The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (HVO) note that the rates of seismicity over the month of December 2019 were variable but within long term vales. Sulfur dioxide emission rates were low at the summit and were below detection limits at Pu;u? and the lower East Rift Zone. The pond at the bottom of Halema'uma'u crater, which began forming on July 25, 2019, continues to slowly expand and deepen. As of early January 2020, the dimensions of the pond are 84 meters by 190 meters (280 feet by 620 feet). Current depth is about 23 meters (75 feet)...

Over the past month, about a dozen deflation-inflation (DI) events occurred beneath the summit, similar to the prior month. Since early March 2019, GPS stations and tiltmeters at the lauea summit have recorded deformation consistent with slow magma accumulation within the shallow portion of the lauea summit magma system (1-2 km or approximately 1 mile below ground level). However, HVO gas measurements show continuing low levels of sulfur dioxide, consistent with no significant shallowing of magma. Some amount of sulfur dioxide is being dissolved into the summit lake...

Farther east, GPS stations and tiltmeters continue to show motions consistent with slowed refilling of the deep East Rift Zone magmatic reservoir in the broad region between Pu and Highway 130. HVO monitoring data do not suggest any imminent change in volcanic hazard for this area. In addition to motion along the East Rift Zone, the south flank of lauea continues to creep seaward at elevated rates following the May 4, 2018 M6.9 earthquake near Kalapana. HVO continues to carefully monitor all data streams along the lauea East Rift Zone and south flank for important changes...

Although not currently erupting, areas of persistently elevated ground temperatures and minor release of gases are still found in the vicinity of the 2018 lower East Rift Zone fissures. These include steam (water), very small amounts of hydrogen sulfide, and carbon dioxide. These conditions are expected to be long-term. Similar conditions following the 1955 eruption continued for years to decades...

It’s odd that there were several threads around 4am (pacific Time) but now They must have fallen to back pages. I even tried to post information on this thread because it still wasn’t on but my post disappeared.
Seems weird as this is important. Manila already has ash. I had no idea it is most densely populated city in the world. Approximately 46,000people per sq mile. I can’t even imagine what this could potentially become especially if it’s still erupting.
This year is getting off to quite the start.

When I posted about the Taal Volcano update, my post went blank too and just reloaded me to my first page but on the second attempt, it did finally post...

I did wonder what was going on there but it posted in the end...

Yes, I agree it's important if the volcano is still active with the ash and toxins spewing out...

The air will be filled with toxic ash and smoke... many have been evacuated from their homes on the island and all commercial air activity has been ceased, for now...

It is all over the news and the press were straight onto it but I feared it may already have been too late for many people to evacuate as the volcano is still pretty active and is growing heavier by the minute...

Maybe it's about to explode full time?

IDK but hopefully, everyone gets as far away from those volcanos as soon as possible... I would not chance it...

Yes, my point was how quickly they were in back pages vs first page. This is just getting started.
Lots of quake related activity in area as well. Deepest one was 100 Kms @4.7. Thais signals more to come . This is just getting started methinks .

Lava fountains generated 1,000 m dark grey plume and drifted SW. New fissures and cracks were observed in Mahabang Dahilig, Dayapan, Palanas, Sangalang, Poblacion, Lemery, Pansipit, Agoncillo, Mataas and Bilibinwang.
The seismic station records 159 volcano-tectonic earthquakes of which 28 were felt...

It was released 1686 tons/day of sulfur dioxide.
Alert level remains at 4 on a scale of 0-5. The warning bulletin states that ballistic impacts of volcanic bombs and pyroclastic flows and tsunamis could affect an area of about 14 km distance from the main crater. Explosive eruption is possible within hours to days.
