I once had an acid trip where I was discussing with God the benefit of resetting the universe or allowing it to continue on and grow. It reminds me of this. I was certain that based on that conversation, the world would either end or it would continue. God seemed to believe in the 'Flood' type answer- that humanity represented a scourge. But I argued that in the smile of a child there is always the chance for hope and that swayed God.
