This year alone, that 16 billion dollars could allot close to one million dollars towards renovation of, or rebuilding of, each unit.

Considered another way, if approximately 155,000 people are living in poverty there -which is 25% of Baltimore's population of 620,000 people- that's over $120,000 for EVERY impoverished resident in any sized household. Which amounts to $480,000 for single mother with three children living in poverty.

While it's obvious that I'm simply grasping at straws by spewing out random numbers, the fact remains that, this year alone, 1.6 billion dollars are not being effectively utilized to solve the needs of Baltimore's impoverished residents.

When I was seeing some of the abandoned row-houses shown on tv, I couldn't help but notice that the price of houses in Brooklyn NY that have similar style houses can now sell for over a million dollars. Some of those neighborhoods, which had also fallen into poverty and disrepair, are now bustling communities.

What's evident to me is that the hierarchy in Baltimore have faulty city planning as concerns urban renewal.

The money is there...but foresight is sorely lacking.

It's criminal...and I suspect Trump has a handle on how this continues to happen.

You can't expect me to like that Trump gave them the money. Flat the fuck out!

I voted for him but too many more of these stories come out I'll vote to destroy the country so it can be rebuilt when we win!

3 years ago I applied for an IDA account in my state, which is a federally funded program that matches your savings 3 to 1. In order to maximize their contribution, I had to save $50 a month for 2 years. You have to qualify based on income, and they also have to approve of what you use the money for. It could only be used for going back to school, investing in starting a business, down payment on a house, or used toward home repair if you already had a house.

I used it for home repair on a house I just bought. And before they released the money to me, I had to provide invoices and such, etc.
