^^ This.

Why the heck would people pay for overpriced gimmicky crap to remind them to stay healthy?

Get a freakin scale, exercise daily, eat right, stay hydrated with water, and sleep well. Go to doctor routinely, get your levels and blood checked out to give you reassurance that you are maintaining good health.

I really don’t see how hard that is. Nothings guaranteed, but at least you’re giving yourself the best chance instead of having some Fitbit on your wrist that you’re gonna lose interest with in a month.

Cool story, though, OP.

Re: Anybody use a Fitbit to monitor cardio activity?
I'm thinking about getting myself the Fitbit Charge 2--

[link to www.cio.com (secure)]

I'm starting physical therapy for my back, hip....hell, everything from the high waist down. As well, I'm restarting cardio rehab, too.

I've looked at the different products at Best Buy and on the net, but I'm thinking the Fitbit Charge 2 might be my best bang for the buck....$150.

That's $50 more than I was thinking of spending, but if my buds here at GLP sing its praises, then it will be worth it.

Or, if any of you have any other suggestions of a product like the Fitbit at the same or less price, then please do let me know. I'll check them out also.

Thank you, and happy day to youse guyses....flower

Have the ionic.

Its wonderful to track how long I've slept, type of sleep, deep sleep, light sleep etc..

Also tracks resting heart rate. When I eat healthy, heart rate drops, when I eat unhealthy, heart rate rises.

When you have been monitoring for a while, and consistently eat well, you know what your heart rate consistently is. So when you get sick, normally your body starts fighting two days before you feel symptoms. You will notice your heart rate start to spike, which if you catch it early enough, you can spike your vitamin C levels and other supps to help fight back before you go full blown sick.

Also measures fitness level combining weight, heart rate, body fat, etc into a specific number to tell you how fit you are.

Since eating healthy and exercising, I'm watching this number slowly rise as my BMI slowly drops, my body fat drops. Love being able to track all of it.

I also grabbed the aria 2 scale which wirelessly through wifi, sends my weight right to my fitbit app.

Re: Anybody use a Fitbit to monitor cardio activity?
I would stay away from the Charge 2. My wife got one and then I ended up using for a while for work as we got $ for meeting the "FIT" - Nothing against retarded people, but I'm pretty sure the charging method was designed by a downs syndrome person...there really is no other explanation.

It's not accurate AT all when compared to other devices. Maybe accurate isn't the best word to use. At the time I had the "free" tracker they gave us and then later I bought an apple watch. The fitbit would give me several thousand steps extra a day compared to the cheap one and the apple one.

Just my 2 cents.
There is no such thing as a coincidence. The smallest coincidence can be the hinge on which future events turn.

Re: Anybody use a Fitbit to monitor cardio activity?
Also, if your looking to get yourself healthy, you need to add in strength exercises too. Not heavy weights, but weights are needed.

All cardio will help you lose weight but will not help you lose body fat if you have a decent % of it.

Adding in strength excerises even if it's doing pushups and situps 20,50,100 times daily, will help you lose that body fat, and make your body and heart much healthier.

Dont listen to the negatives on here. I am a fan of technology. I'm here watching my lean mass increase and watching my body fat % decrease. Sure, I could do it without it. Look in the mirror daily, you dont see much difference. Eventually you see changes, but it's not immediate.

Use it for an alarm, to receive text messages or reminders. Track your heart rate to get into the fat burning heart rate and then do strength training to maximize the burn.

And best of luck to you.

Listen, I work for a major health insurance company, and all the apps? They're BS with an agenda. And it's nothing to do with health. They want you hooked on pills and vaccinated. PERIOD! So don't do any wellness programs whatsoever.

Simple, just run and work out without the metrics. Use a mirror and a scale.
 Quoting: Kingzzor

Maybe its your insurance company that has the agenda?

I work for a power gen company in NJ, PSEG that has a program with Virgin Pulse.

Use a tracker to track steps, and activity, and you get rewarded with cash. Pills? Who is forcing anyone to take pills? They simply want people in the company healthy because the more unhealthy people are, the more they are not at work and are submitting claims which the company will have to pay for.

So its beneficial that people are healthy. We also get once per year a free total health checkup.

And while the company does offer the flu shot, the company does not force you to take any vaccinations...

Anyway. Virgin pulse for the win. Challenge your friends to a step challenge. Compare your activity with others and it makes you want to be competitive. Better than being a lazy 250lb unhealthy person, isnt it?

Hahaha. When I was younger, I was in the matrix. Thought hanging with the cool kids was the way to go.

I eventually woke up. When you do actually wake up to the REAL world, it is a scary ass place and you realize you are alone. There are not many people who wake up to the reality of this world.

Eventually you learn to grow and teach yourself that you can master anything in this world. You teach yourself that you, yourself have the answers to your problems in life, no one else. You learn to be your own guru. Truth comes from within.

So yes, I was in the Matrix. Now I'm what Neo would be once he woke. You do realize they still used technology to combat the computer programs right?

Hey if sticks and stones are your thing, good for you. I'd rather learn, grow, and build technology that can help me along the way. The world is what you make it.

Re: Anybody use a Fitbit to monitor cardio activity?
I wrote earlier in this post.....I have a Fitbit Versa and my son has a Fitbit Charge 2.

One thing that I forgot to mention is that I have found that Fitbit's have a hard time connecting to your wifi.

I have to connect my Versa to my wifi in order to copy music onto it and it is hell getting it to connect sometimes.

We also just bought a Fitbit Scale earlier this week and I still havn't been able to connect it to my wifi yet.

BTW - I should mention that the fitbit is what indicated my heart issue that was caused from an auto immune disease I didn't know about.

The fitbit and heartrate monitoring is what got me an early diagnosis.

Garmin Vivosmart 3 bought with credit card points, price was $149 but no cash outlay due to the points (picked up at local Best Buy).

Got size L and wear it on ankle instead of wrist. Use it for steps only, like others find it motivating to see the number at the end of a walk, treadmill session at the gym, and/or just at the end of the day.

I have bone on bone in my knee, I can't even (yet) walk on the street for exercise, much less run....harhar, plus I've never been a runner. I'm starting the process for my insurance to pay for getting orthopedic shoes to help absorb the pounding on the street and I'm in PT, so I will be walking for exercise here, hopefully within the next month or two.

I used to walk three miles a day, four or five days a week. I loved it, and I want to get my joints fixed up so I can again.

I HAVE to exercise, or I'm going to die....this ain't no joke. I don't want to die from a heart attack, and I sure as heck don't like the meds they have me on. I must exercise so I can get off the BP meds.

I am very motivated to get healthier....hf
