A friend of mine believes that the Earth is flat. I challenged him to prove it by walking off the edge...

Take a walk to Louisiana
Quoting: VerT Watch and weap, feeling flat yet? All globe arguments going out the window. 1h16m40s if it doesnt link to the exact spot. Same effect on Pontchartrain, theres no curve, its just a mirage with the mirror effect/distance/camera height that produces that effect where it looks like its curving, and something going further (like this guy on the bike, think boats on horizon, same thing) disappears into the mirage creating the going over the horizon(curve) optical illusion. Doesn't mean its curved because the illusion makes it appear that way, it just means it's hidden behind the atmosphere effect of the mirage, as proven when he lifts the height of the camera slightly and the mirage effects goes away slowly, and the biker reappears. Why? Because it's just a mirage, hes not really going over a "horizon". Goto 1h18m30s in the video where he moves the camera up slightly and watch the biker reappear behind the mirage. Same effect you see when a boat goes "over the horizon/curve" but its just hidden by mirage/refraction/distance.
