They are chemically synthesized in a lab and several have some pretty serious side effects. When it comes to minerals (like magnesium) you dont need a supplement. Eat real food (meats, veggies, fruits) and use salt (sea salt, pink salt, etc) and you'll never need any supplement ever. You don’t get much vitamin d from food. #fail Not true. Nightshades, like tomatoes and potatoes, contain calcitriol, which is the compound that your body turns vitamin D3 into. Calcitriol is thousands of times more potent than supplemental or sun sourced vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol). Cholecalciferol, or vitamin D3, is produced in the skin by the action of sunlight or can be consumed in food or supplements. In the liver, vitamin D3 is turned into calcidiol. The kidneys then transform calcidiol into calcitriol. Calcitriol is what tells the body how much calcium to absorb from the food you eat and it tells the body what to do with it. Calcitriol is an extremely potent hormone, thousands of times more potent than the compound in supplemental vitamin D3. When you eat nightshades, you essentially get a flood of calcidiol in the body without any processing by the liver and kidneys first. That's why nightshades can cause problems if you eat too much of them or if you are already deficient in other nutrients needed for proper calcium utilization, like vitamin K2. |

This is good info for us, due to our cardiac issues....harhar, along with our brians. Hey, my overall cholesterol went up almost 100 pts. since the heart attack almost five months ago....HOW the hell-fire does that happen? I have been eating better - one or two bran muffins a day, boxes and boxes of organic berries, vegies, etc. - I am taking supplements that are supposed to lower cholesterol, and I've slowed way down on smoking.... It really should've gone down, even a little bit, not sky-rocketing..... Heh, I saw those results and I went and had myself a cheeseburger, and then opened that pound of bacon I had sitting in my fridge for weeks on end. Seriously messed up, ya know? My appt. was cancelled today. I think I'm going to call his office and ask them to send over more orders for a repeat of the test, because that is soooo not right. I can get the test repeated and results back by next Wed. when my appt. is rescheduled to. You never change things by fighting the existing reality. MG Citrate works just fine, and the difference is very noticeable right away. I was giving it to my sister for dementia but she passed away and I used what was left. It takes a little over two hours to kick in the relaxation part(it will do so more than other magnesium supplements) and get you to sleep but it I never stayed asleep all through the night as usual. I always wake up a few times a night. Definitely less brain fog the next day after taking it. earthshaker |

Magnesium has been crossing the blood brain barrier for as long as man has been around. If you have tons of money go for it; but if you are on a limited budget, I think you can get a lot more bang for your supplemental buck, like iodoral, or nattokinase, and ESPECIALLY Vit K2 mk7, which is super important but unknown. |
