so i dig the whole comics scene, and i was aware of this show, and had it on my list. JUST WATCHED IT

at the end of episode 1, i notice in the credits that it is based on a Garth Ennis comic of the same name.

i'm a fan of Garth Ennis, so i grabbed the original run of the comic, all 72 editions..

this is crazy fun stuff and it is RIGHT up GLPs alley.. meaning if you LOVE IT or HATE IT, it feels like prime GLP.

the show is an examination of the superhero idea in "real life" sort of like "The Watchmen" but darker and more realistic, and FULL of sick dirty jokes.

the boys has great "investigative content" on both the PLUS and MINUS side of the line...

on the plus side, the society's so-called heros are really just corporate products who exist to raise profits and care not who they harm.

on the minus side, a main character mixes all this falsehood up with her personal life and decides that god is not real..

SO WHICH TEAM BROUGHT THIS TO TV AT THIS EXACT MOMENT?

on the one hand, it says that the moneyed elite are harming children in an attempt to "transhumanize" and many more children are harmed than are helped.. the survivors get wrapped up in the values that created them and grow up to be narcissistic, violent, shallow, abusive (in a variety of ways)

on the other hand, it says that official authority has become so corrupt that you might as well trash your faith in god..

the comic takes on PC culture as the "heros" say and do things privately that they could never "get away with" on camera..

but the TV product (only S1 so far) has used PC style diversity issues to change characters ethnicity and gender for the more "modern" TV version..

some changes seem merely cosmetic, where other changes seem deliberate.. for example the christian PEDO in the comic, is now a christian HOMO on TV.

OK so the show is literally saying this famous TV Christian "hero" is a homo who also preaches "pray the gay away" before he parties... so modern message noticed,

but in the original, that same character is an unapologetic PEDO, who is outed and destroyed in the original plotline.

no matter if you come out PRO or CON on the OLD or NEW versions, i think that "The Boys" is something GLP might enjoy..

kaboom will get around to it in a minute if im that lucky...
