User ID: 78676084 United States 10/02/2022 10:40 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This was a fun song, but in 1992, was 17 years after Peter Gabriel left. Their last real Genesis album, even though there was one other without Phil Collins, which I’ve never even listened to. They went more pop through the 80’s, yet still sold a lot of LP’s and toured. Yet, ironically, one of my favorite snongs came off the “The Way We Walk” album, called Fading Lights which they went back to their more prog roots, especially at 4:00 in which is just the three, doing a exquisite instrumental section. Nice way to end with this swan song. It was like they were saying to their fans, "Yep, we still got it, but it's time to go" Last Edited by Squonk on 10/03/2022 10:06 AM Nous sommes du soleil. -- We are of the sun. |

Gabriel was the first person I painted a portrait of as a teenager. We wandered around the floor like we owned the venue. |

(like that "cool pool" new user name? )I Really didn't discover Genesis till college buddy introduced me to them in 1979. I did learn a lot about music through other friends that played in bands Wasn't the 1978 concert with the mirrors above the stage? There is very little footage, and whatever there is, is grainy. I've never posted a photo, so hope this Imgur thing works. Well I tried, and it didn't work, so f-it. Anyhow, here is a link to a book about PG and his spiritual Solsbury Hill experience. I bought this book a few years ago and it was quite intriguing. Much like Syd Barrett of Pink Floyd, Ant Philips had stage fright pretty bad, and couldn't get over it, so they hired Steve Hackett-- same time as Phil Collins took over on drums. Anyhow, Ant Philips continued to write music and albums (but would not perform in public) and collaborated with Phil Collins on these two tracks in 1977: Last Edited by Squonk on 10/03/2022 06:29 PM Nous sommes du soleil. -- We are of the sun. |

Going to share it with one of my old friends from Virginia who had a Beatles re-creation band, and is also a major liberal. I've already pissed him off enough since Sleepy Joe took office and I'd been slamming liberals and the Fake Covid. We were good friends when we worked together, but that's over now. Lots of great performers. I still remember when Pink Floyd went on in the night, it was whipping winds and pouring rain. Unfortunately, t threw all my 1970's and 80's albums and stuff I'd taped back in 2015 during my divorce as I moved out. Left my awesome stereo system which was too big for my condo, and my ex gave it all away. Here's Badman's song from that night June 30, 1990: Nous sommes du soleil. -- We are of the sun. |

I’m so glad though that this song brought you some closure. One of my all time favorite Genesis songs about mother time and the aging process. Thanks for sharing this personal story. Anonymous Coward User ID: 80073096 United States 10/04/2022 11:15 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I realized last night that spirits can not read our minds. And all I have spoken out loud has been enough for them to carry on without more contact. How brave are the touched by "god" with abundant easy talents lifting millions; and they have no qualm about their role. I would shrink into a glittering ancient past of books, booze and blue dresses to escape, like a nebula. Brave are the truly talented. Every one has flaws, never use them to lead others. Hide them if you must, but above all others, never deny your time's purpose. A friend is expecting their mother to die any day, that is an odd feeling. Sorry for your loss Tidbits. |
