I just remember so many athletes with tears in their eyes, standing tall, and standing proud, as they watch the rising flag of their country while their national anthem plays. The games are meant to promote world wide peace through competition through the games, not, on a battlefield. If the athelete is doing this for personal acclaim and not for his country, then they should be considered a professional, not, an amateur. This is something that was lost once professionals were allowed to compete.

Fencing is considered an urban sport because it does not require outdoor space or much indoor space for that matter.

Blacks have been fencing competitively at least since the sixties.

It is an honor to represent the country in these games. If you are not proud of your country, why represent it? There are many others who would cherish the chance to go to these games and would be proud to represent the country. It is not just about winning or proving you are the best in the world. You don't need to represent your country to do that.
