It has mountains 20 miles inland with marshy areas along the coast. Floods are likely a very common occurrence in the area.

The overcrowding of India may not be as bad as Bangladesh, but it is bad. People live in areas that they should not even think of living of living on.

The worst flooding in 40 years? As they have twice as many people as back then, this really does not look too bad.

Too bad for those stuck there, for sure. It is not easy getting a 7-11.

FFS, not sure why you would want to discount this story that is like so many others happening right now. IT'S A FUCKING TREND WORLDWIDE! The entire world is seeing these kinds of relentless storms. S. Korea just got blasted with 5 inches of rain in an hour and 10 in a day. The images from there are horrendous.

As mentioned above Missouri was hit with 14 inches of rain. Wherever you look, there are record setting storms day after day not too far away.

Briefly consider this....

- These days, with technology, news can spread globally within seconds of occurrence. Anyone with a phone, tv, computer, radio, etc can see/hear/read said news. Compare that to just 30 years ago or 60 years.

- In a similar light, look at the global population of, say, 60 years ago and compare that to today. Populating a region is a first come, first served deal. So the best spots got snatched up ages ago. As the population grows, people are forced to inhabit the less desirable areas...i.e. prone to flooding, prone to wildfires, prone to this or that

Think about it.

I am not excluding the possibility of some sort of weather phenomena and/or change in climate from being a factor, but it's certainly not the only factor.
