I could totally see that happening there.
It was like when they told me they wouldn't be discharging me for another three days. It made me cry, which they used in their reasoning process as to why I had to stay. The nurse took me aside and said, "don't let them see you like this. you want to put on a cool face. cry in your room where nobody can see you".

So they can basically make your life a hell, and if you react to it, they can make your life a hell for longer.

Trial by fire indeed.

Most people only do stay the three days, but sometimes they want to see you discharged to other programs first. Everyone knows that's a long process, so waiting it out literally feels like purgatory.
