At the lowest, by saying "mentally ill people" can't own guns, you essentially take guns away from 20% of the population at the bare minimum ... If you are depressed, then you recover, you shouldn't permanently lose gun ownership rights. But if 20% of the USA's population is mentally ill, then we got a big problem.
